Huge mix-up! Tristan Stubbs run-out after Cooper Connolly produces sensational direct hit in PBKS vs DC

An absolutely brilliant piece of fielding from Cooper Connolly sent Tristan Stubbs back after a massive mixup between the veteran South African and the Delhi Capitals skipper. This broke the partnership for the fourth wicket, which was just starting to look good for the Capitals.

Delhi Capitals made a poor start to their innings, losing wickets early into the game. However, they were shaping a bounce back with Tristan Stubbs contributing alongside skipper Axar in a partnership.

Cooper Connolly’s brilliance on the field sends Tristan Stubbs back into the dugout

Tristan Stubbs was struggling with the flow of runs as he was also dropped once earlier off Ben Dwarshius, the Australian pacer making his debut in the season for the Super Kings. He was dropped by Arshdeep Singh.

However, the very next over against the same bowler, a massive mix-up between him and his skipper Axar led to his dismissal. Connolly got to the ball quickly, and Stubbs was halfway down the track; he aimed at the stumps, and a direct hit ensured his dismissal.

This broke off a promising 40-run partnership between the Capitals skipper and the South African veteran who, despite not looking in the best of touches, could have been dangerous had he remained at the crease for a longer period of time.

Suryansh Shedge’s dropping of Axar Patel cost PBKS big time

When Tristan Stubbs was dismissed in Ben Dwarshius’s second over, the Punjab Kings were right back into the game had it not been for that drop catch on the very next ball. Dwarshius, playing his first game of the season, was not backed by his fielders.

Axar Patel flicked one off the pads, and the ball was right into the hands of a diving Suryansh Shedge, and it could have been the end of the Capitals’ innings had he held onto that ball. But Shedge spilled it, and the DC skipper survived.

Patel played the finest knock of the season, scoring his first half-century of the season and adding a crucial 56 runs for his team off just 30 balls. This took the capital near to the massive chase, which looked ungettable at one stage.

Axar and David Miller’s vital partnership led the bounceback for DC

Axar Patel and David Miller were the last batting pair on whom Delhi could rely for that big partnership if they needed them to get anywhere near that massive total. Punjab Kings just needed another breakthrough, but it came way too late.

Axar and Miller contributed to a partnership of 64 runs and put the Capitals back into the driver’s seat. The partnership was broken after he was finally dismissed off Marcus Stoinis’s bowling after having scored his fifty.

Later David Miller continued the onslaught and scored a fifty, which took the Capitals home, before a promising finish to the innings from the DC youngsters Ashutosh Sharma and Madhav Tiwari.
