Retail outlets of Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) will not dispense compressed natural gas (CNG) to vehicles without a valid hydro-test certificate, the company said on Tuesday.

Under government regulations, every CNG cylinder must undergo hydrotesting once every three years at a testing centre approved by the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO).

The mandatory test is conducted to check cylinders for leaks, structural defects, durability and corrosion.

“To support compliance with the safety requirements, IGL is conducting a special safety drive across all its CNG stations. Before refuelling, station personnel are verifying the hydro-test validity and checking the certificate,” the company said.
