Former Indian cricketer Amit Mishra is making headlines for a fresh issue. The former cricketer’s wife, a 35-year-old model, accused him and his family members of dowry harassment, physical assault, and abetment to suicide.

According to PTI reports, a fresh complaint has been filed in a Kanpur court against Mishra and some of his family members. It is learned that Garima Tiwari filed a complaint before the court of an Additional Civil Judge (Senior Division). Garima alleged that Amit Mishra and some of his family members were pressurizing her physically and mentally to provide a Honda City car and Rs 10 lakh as dowry.

Apart from the former IPL cricketer, Tiwari’s allegations pointed towards Amit’s mother Beena Mishra, father Shashikant Mishra, brother Amar Mishra, sister-in-law Ritu Mishra, and sister Swati Mishra. Tiwari told the media that soon after their marriage, her in-laws started to pressurize her and her family to provide a Honda City car and Rs 10 lakh as dowry.

She also claimed that her family managed to arrange some amount as a dowry, but the demands continued. According to media reports, she also claimed that the cricketer took away the money she earned through modelling assignments and repeatedly threatened her with divorce.

It is also learnt that this is the third legal case filed by Tiwari against Mishra. The first case, Tiwari field against Mishra, was on April 21, 2025, followed by a maintenance petition on April 23, 2025. Tiwari demanded a monthly allowance of Rs 50,000 and compensation of Rs 1 crore from Amit Mishra.

While speaking to the reporters, Garima Tiwari informed that he met with Amit Mishra through Instagram in 2019 and gradually became involved in a serious relationship. They tied the knot on April 26, 2021, at Kanpur Club, after a three-year-long relationship.

The news came as a shock to the Indian cricket fans as Amit Mishra was one of the most lethal spinners in his days. The Delhi-born played 22 Tests to take 76 wickets, including a 5-fer. In the ODIs, the spinner took 64 wickets in 36 matches at an economy rate of 4.72.

And in T20Is, Mishra bagged 16 wickets in 10 matches for an amazing economy rate of 6.31. Amit Mishra was a member of the Indian squad that won the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. Additionally, he was part of the Indian team that finished as runners-up in the 2014 ICC World Twenty20.

In the Indian Premier League, he played for Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Deccan Chargers. To date, he remains the only bowler to take three hat-tricks (2008, 2011, and 2013).

But one of the highlighted moments of his career was when Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir were involved in a heated moment during an IPL match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Mishra acted as a peacemaker between them to calm down the situation.
