IPL 2026 [WATCH]: Virat Kohli tackle a hilarious quiz about his RCB records

As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season kicks into high gear, the spotlight remains firmly fixed on the man who has become synonymous with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchise: Virat Kohli. In a season where he has already scripted history by becoming the first player to feature in 19 consecutive editions of the league, Kohli recently took a break from his rigorous training schedule to engage in a light-hearted yet challenging career-based trivia session. The video, which has since gone viral across social media platforms, offers fans a rare glimpse into the ‘Chase Master’s’ memory bank, blending nostalgic milestones with a few hilarious ‘brain fade’ moments regarding his own staggering statistics.

Virat Kohli faces a fun career-based trivia challenge

In the widely shared clip, Kohli was put on the hot seat to answer five specific questions about his legendary tenure with RCB. Showing the same intensity he brings to a run chase, Kohli managed to get four out of five correct, though it was his reaction to the misses that truly humanized the cricketing icon.

The challenge began with a trip down memory lane. When asked which bowler he dispatched for his first-ever IPL six, Kohli didn’t hesitate for a second. “Sanath Jayasuriya,” he replied with a confident grin, recalling the 2008 encounter against Mumbai Indians where he stepped out to the Sri Lankan legend. He then successfully navigated a tricky question regarding his first IPL century, correctly identifying KL Rahul as the man at the non-striker’s end during that milestone moment.

However, even the ‘King’ has his limits when it comes to raw data. Kohli stumbled when asked for his exact run totals from the 2011 and 2013 seasons. He guessed 505 for the 2011 season (the actual figure was 557) and 638 for 2013 (the actual figure was 634). Despite the minor statistical slips, the highlight of the quiz was the final question about the record-breaking 229-run partnership against Gujarat Lions. Kohli lit up instantly, shouting “AB de Villiers” before the host could even finish the sentence, once again showcasing the deep bond he shares with the South African legend.

Kohli’s emphatic performance in the IPL 2026 opening game against SRH

While the trivia video provided the laughs, Kohli’s performance on the pitch has provided the fireworks. In RCB’s IPL 2026 season opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Kohli proved that his hunger for runs remains insatiable at age 37. Chasing a formidable target of 202, Kohli anchored the innings with a masterclass in T20 batting.

He remained unbeaten on 69 off just 38 balls, striking at a lethal 181.58. His innings, decorated with five fours and five towering sixes, guided RCB to a comfortable six-wicket victory with 26 balls to spare. During this knock, Kohli also reached a monumental milestone, becoming the first player in IPL history to surpass 4,000 runs in run chases alone. Partnering effectively with Devdutt Padikkal (61) and Rajat Patidar, Kohli ensured that the defending champions started their campaign with a statement of intent. His ability to balance the aggression of the younger power-hitters with his own precision-based boundary-finding suggests that the 2026 season might just be another ‘Golden Year’ for the Bengaluru stalwart.
