Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan was admitted to Lilavati Hospital on February 17, and reports suggest that his condition is serious. Though the family has not issued an official statement yet, sources say the atmosphere remains tense. Close friend and longtime collaborator Javed Akhtar was among those who visited him at the hospital. Salman Khan has reportedly put all his professional commitments on hold to stay by his father’s side during this difficult time.

Several members of the Khan family were seen arriving at the hospital in Mumbai, including Helen, Salma Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Alvira Khan, Arpita Khan and Aayush Sharma. Salman’s close friend Iulia Vantur also visited. Salim Khan was last seen in public at Sohail Khan’s birthday celebration last month. He had celebrated his 90th birthday in November, marking a remarkable journey in Hindi cinema.
Salim Khan remains one of the most influential screenwriters the industry has known. Starting out as an actor before moving into writing, he played a key role in reshaping mainstream storytelling with morally complex heroes and socially driven themes. His legendary partnership with Javed Akhtar as the iconic duo Salim Javed gave Indian cinema timeless classics like Zanjeer, Deewaar, Sholay, Don and Andaz.
Beyond his cinematic legacy, he is a pillar of the Khan family, first married to Salma Khan, with whom he has four children, and later to Helen, who became an inseparable part of the family.
