Mohammed Shami said on The Shubhankar Mishra Show. Show: “When I get tired, I will call it a day. But I am not even thinking of retirement right now because such thoughts pull you down. If this thought crosses your mind, it means you’re already tired. And if you’re tired, it means you’re bored.”

The Indian pacer further added, “And I have said this earlier, too. I’ll leave cricket the day I wake up and decide to get bored. So yeah, the day I feel lazy or get bored, I’ll leave. But neither am I bored nor am I lazy. I am enjoying. Results are good and positive.”

Mohammed Shami fired up to repay LSG’s Trust in IPL 2026

After Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans released him, Lucknow Super Giants have shown faith in him, and now he wants to repay that trust with performances in the ongoing IPL 2026. Shami believes that the only thing that matters right now is staying in good rhythm.

He doesn’t want to think too much about anything, as his main aim is to stay confident, give his full effort, and let the results decide the rest. Shami has stressed that he always focuses on his “rhythm,” whether it is “alright,” and plans accordingly.

Shami further said, “As a bowler, I will give my 100 per cent. I’ll perform my responsibilities and try to meet the expectations set for me. Rest, I can’t change my luck. All I can contribute is with my attitude and determination. If Lucknow has trusted me, I will give my all. Still, whenever you’re playing, the main element is satisfaction.”

Communication gap sparks controversy

Despite performing well in the 2025–26 domestic season, where he scalped 67 wickets across the formats, Mohammed Shami didn’t receive an India recall. Actually, things became tense when Shami publicly said that he wasn’t getting proper clarity from the selectors.

This led to a heated back-and-forth between Shami and Ajit Agarkar. Earlier, there were rumors that he was considered for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2025-26, but Shami himself reportedly stepped away because he didn’t feel fully recovered from his earlier foot injury. The same thing reportedly happened before the England tour, and these things didn’t help him at all.
