Mumbai Indians have announced the signing of Mahipal Lomror and Ruchit Ahir as injury replacements for Quinton de Kock and Raj Angad Bawa for the remainder of IPL 2026.De Kock was ruled out after suffering a tendon injury to his left wrist ahead of Mumbai’s clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 29. Meanwhile, seam-bowling all-rounder Bawa sustained a ligament tear in his right thumb during MI’s game against Punjab Kings on May 14. Both players managed to feature in only three matches this season before being sidelined.Mumbai have now turned to Lomror, the experienced left-handed batting all-rounder from Rajasthan, to strengthen their squad. The 26-year-old has already played 40 IPL matches and has previously represented Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He was also part of the squads for Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans in previous seasons but did not get a game. MI have signed him for Rs 50 lakh. The franchise have also brought in wicketkeeper-batter Ahir for Rs 30 lakh. The 25-year-old cricketer from Saurashtra has featured in 16 List A matches and 12 T20s so far in his domestic career.

Will Mumbai Indians finish the IPL 2026 season positively?

“He was a part of the Reliance team at the DY Patil T20 Cup 2026 this pre-season, where the coaches and team management had the opportunity to observe him closely. Mumbai Indians are pleased to welcome both players to the squad,” the franchise said in a statement.Mumbai’s disappointing IPL 2026 campaign has already ended in playoff elimination, with the five-time champions currently placed ninth on the points table with eight points from 13 matches. They will now look to finish the season on a positive note when they take on Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. Another defeat, however, could leave MI rooted to the bottom of the table, while a win for Rajasthan would seal their qualification for the playoffs.
