Star cast: Sidharth Malhotra, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor
Param Sundari Movie Review Synopsis: PARAM SUNDARI is the story of a man in search of a perfect business idea and love. Param (Sidharth Malhotra) is the son of a wealthy businessman (Sanjay Kapoor) in Delhi. Param has tried his hands in various businesses and start-ups but has never achieved success. He once gets a proposal from a guy named Shekhar (Abhishek Banerjee) who has developed a dating app. He wants Param to invest in his app as he is sure it will do wonders in helping youngsters find their match. When Param tries the app on himself, he is matched with Sundari (Janhvi Kapoor) from a village in Kerala. In order to check whether the app works, he decides to stay in the home stay offered by Sundari. Param’s father gives him one month to find a match, post which he agrees to invest in the app. Param lands up in Kerala with his best friend Jaggi (Manjot Singh). He and Sundari don’t get along well initially but soon get fond of each other. However, a twist in the tale becomes a thorn in the path for Param and Sundari’s love story.
Param Sundari Movie Story Review: Tushar Jalota, Gaurav Mishra and Aarsh Arora’s story is not novel. But Tushar Jalota’s screenplay is fresh. The story is presented in a new age manner with some interesting and funny situations thrown as the couple gradually falls in love. The twist at the interval, again, isn’t something new in this genre of films. But it surprises you because the makers have refrained from showing any of this in the trailer. The dialogues are conversational with natural humour but some cheezy lines could have been avoided.
Tushar Jalota’s direction is simple as well as fresh. He has kept things light hearted. He has ensured that things don’t get too heavy even when a serious twist is thrown. In. Two sequences stand out in the all-important second half. The boat race sequence and the climax. The latter deserves more mention as it’s simple and uncomplicated. In such genre of stories, the ending tends to become emotionally heavy or melodramatic. But that isn’t the case here.
On the flipside, as mentioned above, the story is tried and tested. You will find plenty of films with this storyline. Therefore, the climax is also anybody’s guess. Before the release, there was a chatter on social media about the film being similar to CHENNAI EXPRESS and 2 STATES. But it actually reminds you of DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE. More so, also because of the hero’s father’s angle and what all he does in the second half.
Param Sundari Movie Review Performances: Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor suit as a pair. Sidharth scores well in a typical lover boy role. His antics and way of speaking suit this genre of films. Janhvi Kapoor looks ravishing and suits the image of a half Malayalam-half Tamilian girl. She scores in emotions and dialogue delivery, except for few occasions where her Malayalam accent appears forced. Sanjay Kapoor is a surprise package in an energetic performance. Majot Singh is like a typical friend of the hero you find in such genre of films. Renji, who plays Venu in the film, does well too.
Param Sundari Music and other technical aspects: Composer duo Sachin-Jigar’s music goes with the nature of the film. ‘Pardesiya’ is a brilliant love ballad and it becomes a theme of the film. ‘Danger’ is a fun track and it encourages you to tap your feet. The rest of the songs are functional. Sachin-Jigar’s background score is effective. They have generously used ‘Pardesiya’ theme and it works well.
Santhana Krishnan Ravichandran’s cinematography is impressive. He has made the beautiful locales of Kerala appear even prettier. Etisha Jain and Priyanka Ghosh Riya’s art direction is top-notch and realistic. Neha Gurbuxani’s costumes suit the characters well.
Param Sundari Movie Review Conclusion: On the whole, PARAM SUNDARI makes for a pleasant Bollywood rom-com. The story may follow a familiar template, yet the treatment ensures a breezy, light-hearted watch that connects well with the youth through its mix of emotions, romance, music, and drama. At the box office, the film is likely to open decently and has the potential for a healthy theatrical run.
‘Ullozhukku’ movie is a brilliantly portrayed psychoanalysis of human minds by the director Christo Tomy.
Introduction
After watching the movie at CineQ, Freemont, CA, my mind was surprisingly very calm. But at the same time, I needed to digest this movie scene by scene to write about this experience. Read every review written and still could not find a review that explained the way I understood this movie. So decided to write about this for you all. I must get this out of my system to free up my mind and I am traumatized at times with the raw emotions I experienced, and my own life experiences started haunting my mind. So, writing this out is a way of getting this out of the system. The most important question that came to mind was where does this movie stand when we compare it to some of the greatest movies ever made in the Indian movie scene?
Is this the movie as everyone says that turned Malayalam movie after the release of a Malayalam classic called ‘Chemmeen’ in 1965? Is it the movie that dealt with raw emotions of human life with more tenacity than we have ever seen in any Indian cinema?
‘Chemmeen’ an epic movie directed by Ramu Kaaryat in 1965 was one of the first films in any Indian language that powerfully analyzed women’s psychology very elegantly. In ‘Chemmeen’, we have seen the raw emotions and undercurrents with such details through its lead character Karuthamma, a common fisherwoman. To date, this movie is considered a classic, that ever made in Indian cinema. It was a storytelling style by its director that we had never seen before.
Main characters and their emotional undercurrents: Brilliance by Christo Tomy
Leelamma and Anju are both emotionally trapped individuals by the societal customs that is so familiar only to India. The character building of Leelamma by the story maker is a thorough analysis of her mind scene by scene; where we all start wondering haven’t we all seen this woman amidst us? Thus, the director crafts every scene where he reveals slowly who Leelamma is. Urvashi who portrayed Leelamma in the movie has lived the character. Every scene where she is a mother to Thomaskutty is brilliant. One specific scene that captured my mind is the last scene at his funeral she is not crying aloud, but her face and emotions seeing her child that she gave birth at his last of life on earth; such tense scenes are portrayed by Urvashi in nothing less than world-class acting. I don’t even think the director told her what to do in all the scenes, but Urvashi had lived the character of Leelamma. This is just one such detail. Her interactions with her daughter-in-law, her relatives, and every detail of acting are such a pleasure to watch and so proud to say this happens only in Malayalam movies, actors in this industry are such gems.
The director, when portraying the character of Anju, made viewers go through her emotions scene by scene as well. Anju on one side can’t emotionally connect to Thomaskutty, Leelamma’s son whom she is forcibly married to. Her detachment from this man, and very soon she becomes his caretaker, and her mental status is for the viewers to see and know; we see Anju’s world rapidly change; the scene after the wedding in a small boat the couple posing for a photo to very soon somewhat a nurse to her husband’s needs; director says all these not much through any dialogues, but scene by scene simply take viewers through incidents; he is telling brilliantly the story of Anju’s mental agony. Leelamma on the other side only sees the happy side of Anju and thinks she is providing all the support as an understanding mother-in-law.
Anju’s dressing style, her every movement is so believably portrayed by this mature actress Parvathy, we wonder will any actress from another movie fraternity be willing to take down all the glamour of makeup to become the character. We had Shabana Azmi, Smitha Patil, Deepti Naval and a few others like Kareena Kapoor of younger generations have shown the same dedication to roles given to them. Parvathy’s contribution in many other reviews written so far, had been limited to one sentence. Here we really want to put her performance at par with Urvashi. Her boldness to go that extra mile to give this character of Anju everything she can by putting a lot of thought into each scene is commendable.
Music plays a key role in bringing this movie to life. Very carefully done and skillful Sushin Shyam did an excellent job. Here are a few scenes from this movie’s trailer.
There are many world classics where the background scores have become as popular as the movie. Sushin Shyam is unknowingly doing some world-class work in this movie. The background scores by Jerry Goldsmith for ‘Alien’, Maurice Jarre for ‘Laurence of Arabia’, James Horner’s Apollo 13, and Hans Zimmer’s Pirates of the Caribbean are good examples; I picked some varied theatrical themes here because good music director must know the basic theme of the story well to make a background score that stands as good as the movie. Here in Ullozhuku Sushin’s low volume but especially slower use of various pitches of string instruments, that very slowly build up to the emotional outbursts of characters have come out at such synchronous timings that it really helps build up the emotion in its right quantity. I think we are seeing a genius in action here. The background score by Sushin really represents the director’s vision of each scene, not an ounce less or more, just perfect in its measure. Kudos!
The emotional drama when Anju realizes that her own mom and Leelamma hide the fact that Thomasktty had brain cancer before her marriage was one of the most difficult scenes in my mind to picture without losing the viewer’s attention and sympathy for Anju. Sushin’s background score makes even splash of water in these scenes as a part of the story when Anju hurriedly walks towards Leelama who is sitting near the dead body of her son. Not a single detail has been flawed. Another scene so memorable is where Anju’s character asks Leelamma “How can she do such cruelty to her?” Leelamma doesn’t have an answer, but her face tells volumes and the background score as well. Urvashi looks very confused because in her mind she never can imagine her son could die; in a very early scene the mother and daughter-in-law exchange a conversation after a late night sick episode where Thomaskutty had an Epileptic attack and recurrence of his cancer symptoms; Leelamma is sitting sadly near prayer room, realizing that every scary dream she had about her son’s illness is becoming a reality. She genuinely believed God would take care of her son’s illness when she arranged a marriage for him. Later conversations of the mother and daughter-in-law is a well-thought-out psychological analysis by the director that helps viewers better understand both these main characters that Christo wants us to know through his brilliant storytelling.
Anju started sneaking out secretly to meet with her real love interest, Rajeev; after her husband became bedridden in the very first few weeks of marriage. We see her disgusted face when she gives a hot towel to Thomaskutty to wipe his genitals. I was analyzing why her character was portrayed this way. In the 1967 Chemmeen movie Karuthamma went to meet with her lover Paree Kutty, when her husband Palani went to the Sea. It may be a coincidence of these two stories but the emotional roller coaster that the character of Anju goes through and her reaction to it was a brilliant analysis of the situation. Anju is bold and knows what she really wants in her life; when her life turns only a bad face to her, she goes in search of that safe place that she always knew before her marriage. She repeatedly asks Rajeev ‘why can’t he take her with him? I am carrying your child. But at the end as a man of fault, he says the sentence that hurt Anju enormously. In the scene where Rajeev says, “I accepted you back even when you lie down with another man”. This comes out of his mouth even when he realizes every bit of his girlfriend’s situation in her marriage. The end of the movie shows the strength of sisterhood and motherhood and its complex nature that no man can ever understand. A man’s lack of thought starts from the day of his ‘first sin’ in paradise and continues till date. When God asked him why did you eat that fruit from the tree that I told you not to eat? His reply was “It was this woman who tempted me to eat it”. The story of this movie brings many thoughts that is never been told directly.
To a small credit, Anju’s parents, her dad, and her mom are portrayed very well by the actors. The Sister Aunty, and Thomas Kutty’s sister characterization, where not a word or a scene flawed in any manner. Everything happening in the movie is extremely realistic and dealt with extreme care and craftsmanship.
When 2024 reaches its half-year mark Malayalam movies have seen an enormous thrust in the quality of movies produced so far. It is partly from the rise of young talents who really want to do good films, and many know very well the thin line between commercial success and good movies. The times when Malayalam’s world-class directors like Adoor, Bharathan, and Padmarajan were making movies, we had such a spring season in our small movie industry. I am very happy to see the young movie directors of today dare to touch subjects that are challenging and can still capture the attention of viewers. Very hopeful about the future of this small film fraternity from the southern peninsula of India and we all are fortunate to be able to live in a time when the rejuvenation of good films happens not only in Malayalam but Hindi cinema as well. Let us hope the Malayalam industry along with all other major industries in this country continue to make good movies. Thanks for reading. Ciao.
A day after Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri said he had met Jeffrey Epstein “three or four times”, Congress MP and party’s general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday said the Cabinet Minister should resign.
Epstein had pleaded guilty and was convicted in 2008 on prostitution charges, including soliciting a minor girl. He was arrested again in 2019 on federal charges of sex trafficking of minors. His 2019 death in a Manhattan jail cell, awaiting trial, was ruled a suicide.
The fresh tranche of documents released by the US Department of Justice (DoJ) on January 30 show that Puri exchanged emails with Epstein in 2014-15.
Referring to the documents, Priyanka told The Indian Express, “In my opinion, he should resign.” Hitting back at Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi for mentioning his name in connection with the Epstein files, Puri on Wednesday denied any wrongdoing, saying he had met Epstein three or four times in eight years while living in New York — first as India’s Permanent Representative to the UN from 2009-13 and then working at the International Peace Institute’s Independent Commission on Multilateralism after his retirement from the IFS in 2013 until he became a Cabinet minister in 2017.
At the press conference, Puri had said: “There are references to only three or four meetings, and all my interactions were entirely professional, related to the Independent Commission on Multilateralism and other international work.”

A year after U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs spooked exporters and customers, Chinese factories and ports are buzzing with activity ahead of the Lunar New Year — even pushing freight rates higher.
Chinese factory activity typically surges at the start of the year with manufacturers racing to fulfil orders and ship out goods before the country enters an extended holiday for the Chinese New Year. This year’s pre-holiday rush appears as strong as ever despite Trump tariffs.
Renaud Anjoran, founder and CEO of Agilian Technology, a Guangdong-based electronics manufacturer, said his factory was operating at nearly full capacity after a year of stop-start tariff threats: “We are very busy.”
“It’s back to the situation where it’s like tariffs don’t exist. American customers are not thinking of [buying from] other places,” Anjoran said, adding that some clients had to pay additional costs to have goods made and shipped out before the holiday.
His plant in the city of Dongguan ships more than half its products to the U.S., maintaining exports at levels seen before Trump’s imposition of tariffs last year.
“Factories saw orders, production and earnings jump ahead of the Chinese New Year holidays,” according to China Beige Book that tracks economic data from the world’s second largest economy.
The research firm estimates that in January, industrial output jumped compared to a year ago, with both domestic and export orders “accelerating sharply on-year and on-month.” The official reading on output for January and February will be out in March.
Major ports in China handled 40% more containers during the week ended Feb. 1 from a year earlier, according to a team of transport and logistics analysts at HSBC Bank. That marks the fastest year-on-year growth in more than 12 months and well above the average weekly growth of about 10% in 2025.
Take the ports in Ningbo, one of China’s most critical maritime hubs: Terminals operated “beyond capacity, with individual vessels overbooked by more than 20%, and container gate-in has been suspended,” said Jay Guo, dean at Ningbo China Institute for Supply Chain Innovation.

Rising transportation costs
Severe traffic congestion has pushed trucking rates up by 80%, Guo said, noting that many factories and freight forwarders will halt operations from Friday and not resume until Feb. 26.
“CNY-focused advisories for shippers in Europe, North America, and Asia report a clear pre-holiday pull-forward of bookings from China,” said Wolfgang Lehmacher, a global supply chain and logistics expert.
That said, the spike was also in part thanks to the low-base effects from the timing of the Lunar New Year, which is in mid-February this year, versus late January in 2025.
The surge in activity, driven by pre-holiday front-loading, has pushed up freight prices. The Shanghai Containerized Freight Index, a key benchmark for container freight rates from Shanghai to major global destinations, was floating in the range of 1,400 to 1,656, in early January compared with the average level over the past 15 years of 1,337 to 1,568, according to HSBC’s freight monitor report released Monday.
Rates hit a peak three weeks earlier than the historical pattern suggests, signaling the pre-holiday front-loading being pulled forward this year, HSBC analysts said in its note.
Large container shipments to the U.S. were running above levels during the same period in 2024 and 2025 for most part of January and into February, the HSBC freight report showed.
Air freight rates for lanes to the U.S. and Europe were higher than a year earlier. The Baltic Exchange’s Shanghai Pudong outbound index was up 5.3% during the week ended Feb. 2 from the previous week.
Companies are also moving ahead with developing new products as tariff tensions have ebbed. Following a high-level meeting in October, China secured a one-year trade truce with Washington that kept tariffs on its goods to the U.S. at a lower level.
For most part of 2025, China had reduced its direct shipments to America while ramping up exports to alternative markets including Southeast Asia and European countries.
De-risking, not decoupling
The buzz in Chinese factories comes despite companies looking to diversify their supply chains. Many multinational firms are accelerating the “China-plus-one” sourcing strategies in Southeast Asia and near-shoring in markets such as Mexico and parts of Europe, but they continue to maintain significant production or sourcing in China, said Lehmacher.
Not surprisingly, factory floors in China have been bustling with customers visiting from around the world as they place orders for the next production cycle, Cameron Johnson, a Shanghai-based senior partner at businessconsultancy Tidalwave Solutions, told CNBC after visiting several factories across southern China last month.
Automotive, consumer and sporting goods manufacturers in southern China, were “fairly busy,” Johnson said, as they work through backlogs and field inquiries from foreign buyers, including some from the U.S.
They waited as long as they can for the uncertainty to stop but now they have to figure out how to move forward.

The visits follows a turbulent year owed to Trump’s sweeping tariffs that led to a wave of panic buying and sudden freezes as companies struggled with trade uncertainty, playing a stop-and-go game with orders.
Business owners “waited as long as they can for the uncertainty to stop but now they have to figure out how to move forward,” Johnson said.
Interests from American customers about developing new products has recovered significantly since then, said Anjoran. “A lot of people had new products in mind but froze the projects because of the uncertainty,” he said. “Now it seems things are relatively stable.”
DHAKA: Tarique Rahman-led BNP was cruising to the halfway mark of 150 – winning 120 of the 300 parliamentary seats and leading in 55 more – leaving behind its rival and Bangladesh’s largest Islamist party, Jamaat-e-Islami, on Thursday, as counting was under way after Bangladeshis voted in the first national election since the 2024 ‘July Uprising’ ousted long-time PM Sheikh Hasina. The turnout, however, was just 47%. By midnight, it had taken an unassailable lead over the hardline anti-India Jamaat and its allies – trailing with 38 seats – in the contest to elect a new govt to replace the Muhammad Yunus-led interim govt. Yunus took charge after the collapse of the Hasina-led Awami League dispensation – a party banned from contesting the poll and its symbol, the boat, missing from ballot papers for the first time in 30 years. BNP chairman Rahman, who has won from both constituencies he contested – Bogra and Dhaka-17 – would likely take over as the next PM: an outcome that India can live with. BNP, which was distinguished by its unfriendly position towards India because of its arch-rival Awami League’s friendly disposition towards New Delhi, however, has mellowed down hostility. India opened a channel with BNP with the presence of foreign minister S Jaishankar at the funeral of former PM Khaleda Zia last year in Dhaka.

मानना है कि पोस्टमॉर्टम रिपोर्ट आने के बाद ही यह खुलासा होगा कि पिंकी की मौत हादसा है या हत्या।’

Rohit Sharma warns Team India ahead of T20 World Cup clash against Pakistan (Photo by PTI and AP)
NEW DELHI: Former India captain Rohit Sharma has warned Team India not to take their high-profile T20 World Cup 2026 clash against Pakistan lightly, even though they are favourites on paper. India face Pakistan on February 15 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, and Rohit believes past records or rankings won’t matter once the match starts.
T20 World Cup | Sahibzada Farhan on India vs Pakistan matches: ‘Not one-sided’
India have dominated Pakistan in T20 World Cups and recent T20Is, but Rohit stressed that cricket can be unpredictable and every team can win on its day. Speaking at an event in Dubai, he said, “Firstly I never believed in this word called favourites. It’s such a funny game, and we’ve seen it now there’s so much that has happened in this last 10 years of international cricket. All these teams have so much exposure now playing T20 cricket. “You can’t just go and think that it’s a two-point victory for us. You just have to play good cricket on that particular day to achieve those points otherwise you might end up going home without anything.”He added that current form, reputation or history won’t guarantee success. According to Rohit, the key is performing on the day of the match, because any team can beat another in T20 cricket. “So it’s not about what you’ve done in the past, what is your team like, players are in form or not form. You just have to play well on that particular day because every team is capable of beating any team on that particular day,” he said.India have lost only once to Pakistan in World Cups, in the 2021 T20 World Cup, and have beaten them in their last five T20I meetings.
In an important update that has got fans buzzing, Prakash Raj has officially joined the cast of the Ajay Devgn-led Drishyam 3. While his entry into the Hindi franchise is an exciting development, it has also triggered intense speculation regarding whether he is stepping into the shoes of Akshaye Khanna.
Addressing the rumours, Prakash Raj took to social media to confirm his role in the film while setting the record straight. He expressed his enthusiasm for the project, saying, “Started shooting for this engaging franchise #Drishyam3 in Hindi. With a wonderful team and a scintillating role to play. I’m sure you will love it. (And yes, I’m not replacing anyone..)”
The clarification from Prakash Raj comes in the wake of reports about Akshaye Khanna’s exit from the franchise. Akshaye, who played an important part in the second part, reportedly walked out of Drishyam 3 due to a combination of remuneration issues and creative differences.
According to reports, the actor had demanded a fee of Rs 21 crore for the upcoming film. While the makers attempted to negotiate the terms, it is reported that Akshaye eventually stopped responding to calls. Beyond the financial aspects, creative disagreements also played a role. Reports suggest that Akshaye wanted to wear a wig for his character in this part, a move the production team disagreed with as his character appeared without one in the previous film.
Producer Kumar Mangat Pathak further clarified the timeline of the exit, noting that while some suggested the actor left following the success of Dhurandhar, he actually exited the project just a day before the film’s release in theatres.
After Akshaye’s exit, there were initial reports that Jaideep Ahlawat had been cast as a replacement. However, director Abhishek Pathak clarified that Jaideep would be playing an entirely new character rather than taking over Akshaye’s role. Similarly, Prakash Raj’s casting is being viewed as a fresh addition to the high-stakes thriller.
Drishyam 3 is one of the most awaited films of 2026, continuing the gripping story of Vijay Salgaonkar and his family. The film will see the return of the original cast, including Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, and Rajat Kapoor. The film is currently slated to hit theatres on October 2, 2026.
