Rishabh Pant blasts at batters after loss vs GT in IPL 2026 clash

Gujarat Titans (GT) Captain Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler made the run chase smooth like walking in a garden. Without doing anything fancy, these two batters keep the run chase simple by following the very easy method: see-the-ball and hit-the-ball.

At the Ekana Stadium, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) had a rough day with their batters. Went to bat first, the home team scored only 164 runs in exchange for 8 wickets. Apart from one of their openers, Aiden Markram, who got 30, there were no other batters of the team who had scored at least 20 runs today, against the Gujarat Titans bowling line-up.

The emerging star of LSG also flopped vs the Gujarat Titans

Mukul Choudhary, who single-handedly confirmed a win against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, also could not do anything significant.

Prasidh Krishna was the best bowler for the Gujarat Titans, who claimed 4 wickets in 4 overs in exchange for an economy rate of 7.00. Mohammed Siraj also delivered well, taking one wicket in four overs for an economy rate of 4.75.

After the early wicket of Sai Sudharsan, the LSG players got a very limited number of opportunities to celebrate in the second innings of the match as Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler slowly, but in a commanding way took over the momentum of the match. Gill returned for 56 runs off 40 balls, smashing one 6 and six 4s.

Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler settled the match for GT

While the skipper batted in a watchful manner, Buttler was a little bit more aggressive. The England international scored 60 runs from 37 balls with eleven 4s and a strike rate of 162.17. It was Buttler’s 100th half-century in T20s. This one’s come off just 29 balls. According to Cricbuzz, 80% of Buttler’s runs have come in the off side the joint fifth highest of 1982 50+ scores in IPL.

After the departures of Gill and Buttler, Washington Sundar and Rahul Tewatia sealed the game for the Gujarat Titans. GT needed only 18.4 overs to win the match by 7 wickets against the Lucknow Super Giants.

We just couldn’t grab the opportunities enough: Rishabh Pant, LSG captain

“See, definitely not enough runs. There’s nothing. from the fact that they bowled well. I think in a wicket like this, a score like 170 to 180 is a really good score. But, you know, the wicket kept on falling and they put enough pressure on us to get those wickets going,” Rishabh Pant, captain of the Lucknow Super Giants said after the match.

“See, definitely in a wicket like this, like I said, 170 to 180 is a good score. But at the same time, you know, you still have opportunities. I wouldn’t say I’m a hard guy. So there were opportunities in the game. We just couldn’t grab it enough,” he added.
