Rishabh Pant, the LSG skipper, has once again failed to capitalise despite a promising start for the Super Giants as they were off to a flyer following the spectacular innings from Josh Inglis. However, his dismissal of Jamie Overton looked like one of the silliest dismissals under those circumstances.
The Lucknow Super Giants have struggled with their batters not being able to hold on to good starts. Be it Mitchell Marsh, Ayush Badoni, or Josh Inglis, LSG have had starts; however, they have had middle-over jitters and have lost too many wickets in that phase, often falling short of the desired landmark.
Jamie Overton shocks Rishabh Pant with good bounce off the deck; LSG skipper stands clueless after being castled
Jamie Overton has bowled beautifully this season for the Super Kings, having used his height to great advantage as he dismissed two of LSG’s best batters on show in the same over. Unlike the other CSK seamers, Overton used the bounce off the surface to his advantage.
After Inglis’ dismissal on the first ball of the over, the pressure was on Rishabh Pant, as he was the comparatively set batter and had the bat deep into the innings. However, once again Pant was dismissed as he misread the line of Overton’s delivery and underedged it, chopping it back into the stumps.
Rishabh was dismissed on the fourth ball of the Overton over, and the LSG skipper was dismissed for just 15 runs. CSK hunted down three LSG batters in no time, also bringing down the projected score.

Josh Inglis misses out on maiden IPL hundred after unfortunate dismissal to Overton.
Josh Inglis, the Australian batter, returned to the IPL after not being available for the first seven matches of the season for the Super Giants. With many opening combinations struggling for LSG, Inglis was immediately placed at the top right after his return.
With the resurgence, he started to take on the bowlers in his usual style; however, he then missed the second game after his return. He played a much-needed knock for the Super Giants in a do-or-die contest against the Chennai Super Kings.
Inglis, having scored 85 off just 33 balls, was dismissed when he attempted to play a scoop shot while moving towards the off-side. He had done that successfully quite a number of times, but not this time, as Overton made the ball bounce from an unfamiliar length. Inglis, beaten by the bounce, edged it faintly to Sanju Samson.
CSK eyeing a major jump in Qualification percentage with a win against LSG
Having won five of their ten matches this season, the Super Kings are still in the race for the playoffs, and winning a sixth match after 11 appearances would level their points tally with the Rajasthan Royals. Hence, winning this game against LSG would take their chances of qualification to nearly 40, while losing this would sink them to lower than 13.
This is a do-or-die game for LSG, as they will be officially knocked out of the race for the playoffs if they lose this game. For CSK, this is a crucial match, as they can set the tone with a winning start against the franchise that they will meet again after just a few days.
