RR suffers injury scare with Ravindra Jadeja retired hurt during mid-innings in Qualifier 2 vs GT

RR has suffered a massive blow in the middle of their Qualifier 2 fixture against the Gujarat Titans as experienced all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja had to leave the field midway through his brilliant innings, following some trouble with his elbow.

Rajasthan Royals lost two wickets early into the Qualifier 2, and under those conditions, they needed someone who could add stability to the innings alongside Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s brute force and fearlessness. They sent in their most experienced campaigner Ravindra Jadeja.

Why did Ravindra Jadeja leave the field during the RR vs GT clash: Injury or Strategy?

Ravindra Jadeja came out to bat after being promoted to the middle order for the first time under the Rajasthan Royals camp. He played a stunning hand alongside the youngster and handed RR a perfect balance by the end of their powerplay.

RR managed to put on 70 runs just within the powerplay following a half-century partnership between Jadeja and Sooryavanshi. However, as soon as the power play ended, Jadeja, who was batting on 34 off just 19 balls, was declared retired hurt, and the skipper replaced him on the track.

Jadeja had taken some medical attention between the wickets, but it seemed more of a strategic move made right after the strategic timeout. However, the commentators claimed that he suffered a tennis elbow injury, which has been a concern for the Indian superstar in recent times.

Riyan Parag’s destroys RR’s plans with another flop show

The Rajasthan Royals mentor Kumar Sangakkara immediately rushed to have a word with a dejected Jadeja, who left the field following a promising start to his innings. It was the point when it felt that it was a strategic move from the RR dugout.

However, they sent in the Royals skipper Riyan Parag as his replacement on the pitch. Parag started off well with some massive hits of Rashid Khan; however, his confidence was soon shattered when he was dismissed while attempting to flick Holder over the mid-wicket boundary.

Riyan Parag’s poor run in the IPL continued, and taking off Jadeja did not prove to be a very promising decision from the Rajasthan Royals camp, as well as Kumar Sangakkara, who should have valued pure class over brute force.

Jadeja’s return confirmed RR’s strategic plans

After Jofra Archer was dismissed by Prasidh Krishna in the 13th over of the game, Jadeja walked back with the willow in his hand. He looked fit as ever as he attempted the shots soon after his return.

For once it didn’t seem that Jadeja was troubled with any kind of injury concerns; however, Cricbuzz reports claimed that he returned after getting some treatment in the dressing room.

All of Rajasthan Royals’ attempts to increase the run rate in those middle overs failed miserably, as Parag, Dasun Shanaka, and Jofra Archer were dismissed without doing any justice to their roles. Shockingly Donovan Ferreira was not sent in to bat when RR needed quick runs at the back end.
