Sakib Hussain bamboozles Urvil Patel in CSK vs SRH clash

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are in trouble as they lost the in-form batter Urvil Patel inside the powerplay after the departure of Sanju Samson. CSK lost the wickets of Samson and Patel inside the power play.

A slow off-cutter from the emerging pacer of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Sakib Hussain, uprooted the off stump of Urvil Patel on the third ball of the fifth over of the first innings.

The SRH pacer clears the off stump of CSK’s Urvil Patel.

The seamer pitched the ball slightly on the offside. After hitting the deck, the ball traveled at a little bit of slow pace. The CSK batter misread the ball and swung his bat early. He tried to clear the inner circle by playing a pull shot, but missed every part of the ball, and the ball beat the under edge of Urvil Patel’s blade and lashed on the off stump. Chennai Super Kings lost their second batter for 48 runs only.

CSK is in massive trouble

Because of the two major blows, CSK managed to score only 57 runs in 6 overs. Sanju Samson provided the team with a flying start during the first few overs of the match. As soon as Sanju dismissed, Chennai Super Kings, the home for the match, went into trouble. The opener and keeper of the team departed after scoring a quick-fire 27 runs off 13 balls, smashing five 4s and one 6. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad remains firm on the track, but his strike rate is below a hundred.

Urvil Patel was the best possible batter for them during the powerplay to bolster the run rate. The young batter, on May 10, played a ballistic 65-run knock against the Lucknow Super Giants. So, for valid reasons, there was expectations on him in tonight’s match as well. But the SRH pacer did not allow the batter to spend too much on the track. Urvil went for 13 runs from 8 deliveries.

Chennai Super Kings elected to bat first

It was the CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad who won the toss and choose to bat first against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in this must win contest. This is a must win game for both of the teams.

However, SRH skipper Pat Cummins did not look too unhappy being asked to bowl first.

You know, it’s T20 cricket, IPL, you’ve got to kind of buy into a certain style, even if it doesn’t work every night and I think our guys have done that really well. But that’s your strength. You’ve got to back your ability. The mood’s been great. We know the way we play is probably not going to work every single game, but it’s going to be exciting. So, we think it’s our best style, so we’ll just keep leaning into that aggressiveness. We would have probably had a bowl, but who knows, so not too upset,” Pat Cummins said at the toss.
