Pakistan have made a change to their T20I leadership, with Sahibzada Farhan named the new captain for the upcoming three-match series against Sri Lanka after leading the country to a silver medal at the 2026 Asian Games.The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the squads for the Sri Lanka T20Is and the subsequent ODI tri-series featuring Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka. Salman Ali Agha, who previously led Pakistan in T20Is, has been left out of the squad, while he retains his place in the ODI setup.Farhan’s appointment comes after he led Pakistan’s campaign at the Asian Games, where the team secured the silver medal after suffering a 19-run defeat to India in the gold-medal clash.
Farhan takes charge of T20I side
Farhan will captain a 15-member squad in the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, with all three games scheduled to be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. While Pakistan have opted for a leadership change in T20Is, there is continuity in the ODI setup. The T20I series will be followed by a seven-match ODI tri-series involving Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka. The tournament will begin in Rawalpindi before moving to Lahore, where the final four matches, including the final, will be played.
