Alexander Isak and Yasin Ayari scored early goals for Sweden to take them two goals up in their Group F World Cup match against Tunisia in Monterrey on Sunday (June 14, 2026). Omar Rekik then scored a header from Tunisia’s first shot on target as the teams went into the break with Sweden leading 2-1.
Sweden is playing their opening match, but it has been a long and winding road to get here for the team and coach Graham Potter. Sweden finished bottom of their qualifying group and needed a Nations League playoff lifeline to make it to the finals.
Sweden boast a formidable strike partnership in Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres, but the two will have their work cut out in their opening World Cup Group F game as they take on a Tunisia side that didn’t concede a goal in qualifying.
In the other Group F match, Japan drew 2-2 with the Netherlands.
