The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Thursday (May 14) the India A squad for the upcoming one-day tri-series in Sri Lanka. The Indian selectors have picked some exciting names in the squad who have made the headlines in the ongoing IPL 2026.
The selectors have picked the 15-member squad mostly based on the performances of the players in the ongoing IPL 2026, and with their picks, they made their intentions clear that there is no looking back, as the next generation is ready to take over Indian cricket.
BCCI announces explosive India A squad for Sri Lanka tour
Young batting sensation Tilak Varma has been appointed captain of the India A side, while Riyan Parag has been named vice-captain for the upcoming one-day tri-series in Sri Lanka.

One of the biggest talking points is the selection of teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who has earned his maiden India A call-up after his explosive performances for the Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing IPL 2026.
The 15-year-old has impressed everyone with his fearless batting and domination against top bowlers in the tournament. Vaibhav has already scored 440 runs at an incredible strike rate of over 235 this season for the Rajasthan Royals.
Four PBKS players make cut in India A squad
Apart from Vaibhav, Punjab Kings (PBKS) in-form batters Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya have been rewarded for their explosive performances in IPL 2026 with selection in the Indian A squad for the upcoming one-day tri-series against Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A.
Prabhsimran has been one of the most consistent batters this season, scoring 382 runs at an impressive average of 42.44 and a brilliant strike rate of 169.03 so far. On the other hand, Priyansh made the headlines with his fearless batting style and unbelievable attacking intent.
The young PBKS opener has smashed 342 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 226.49. Additionally, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey also earned the maiden call-up after his brilliant performances in the ongoing IPL 2026.

Anshul Kamboj and Arshad Khan’s IPL 2026 form earn them India A selection
The SRH star has taken 8 wickets in 8 matches. Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings star pacer Anshul Kamboj has also been handed the big opportunity to impress the selectors in Sri Lanka after taking the IPL 2026 by storm with his bowling.
Kamboj has already taken 19 wickets in 11 matches for CSK at an impressive economy rate of 9.20. Gujarat Titans’ seamer Arshad Khan will also be seen in action for India A in the upcoming one-day tri-series in Sri Lanka.
After the one-day tri-series, India A will also play two multi-day matches against Sri Lanka A in Galle. The squad and fixtures for those red-ball matches between India A and Sri Lanka A will be announced later. Suryansh Shedge’s power hitting for PBKS also earned him a spot in the squad.
