Virat Kohli’s day went from bad to worse in Raipur. On Sunday, facing Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2026, he lasted just one ball. Deepak Chahar sent down a delivery, Kohli tried to hit it, but got it all wrong—and Raj Angad Bawa grabbed an easy catch at mid-off. That makes two ducks in a row for Kohli, since he got out without scoring in the previous game against Lucknow Super Giants. The last time he had back-to-back ducks in the IPL was in 2022, when LSG and Sunrisers Hyderabad both got him out for zero.
Tilak Varma tried to steady things with a solid 57 from 42 balls, but Bhuvneshwar Kumar really stole the show. He took four wickets and kept Mumbai locked down at 166 for seven.
Mumbai started poorly—three wickets gone, just 28 runs on the board after three overs. Naman Dhir chipped in with 47, and he and Tilak put together 82 runs from 57 balls, helping MI recover a bit. But after they left, Mumbai’s scoring slowed down. RCB’s bowlers weren’t letting up.
Bhuvneshwar finished with 4/23. Hazlewood, Rasikh Salam Dar, and Romario Shepherd each picked up one wicket too.
After the match, Bhuvneshwar talked about how sticking to the plan and staying disciplined made his four-wicket haul possible. He removed big names—Rickelton, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Tilak Varma—and once again made a big impact with the new ball, especially on a pitch that wasn’t easy to read.
“It was a tricky wicket,” he said. “You think you’ve got an advantage as a bowler and then suddenly the next ball goes for a boundary. But yeah, it was tough, and we handled it well.”
