Vansh Bedi has suddenly become one of the biggest talking points in Indian cricket, with the young wicketkeeper-batter attracting widespread attention on social media. The 23-year-old has featured for Delhi in domestic cricket and has also been associated with Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.
Vansh Bedi has found himself in the news after a report made serious claims about him, leading to a significant discussion around his name on social media. However, his cricketing journey has so far been about developing as a wicketkeeper-batter and earning opportunities across domestic competitions.
Who is Vansh Bedi?
Vansh Bedi was born on December 23, 2002, in Uttarakhand and is an Indian wicketkeeper-batter. He is a right-handed middle-order batter and stands at 5 feet 7 inches. Bedi has developed a reputation for aggressive batting while also contributing behind the stumps.
His official senior T20 career remains limited. He has played just one official T20 match for Delhi, having made his Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy debut against Arunachal Pradesh in 2024. He has also represented Delhi Premier League sides, where he has received considerably more opportunities to showcase his batting.
One of his notable performances came in the 2024 Delhi Premier League, when he smashed 96 runs from only 41 balls against East Delhi Riders.
Teams Vansh Bedi has represented in his cricket career
Bedi has been associated with several teams during his young cricket career. He has represented Delhi at the domestic level and has also played for East Delhi Riders, Purani Dilli 6 and Central Delhi Kings in the Delhi Premier League.
His association with Chennai Super Kings brought him into the national spotlight. Bedi was picked by CSK at the IPL 2025 mega auction for INR 55 lakh, although he did not make an appearance for the franchise during the season. Bedi has also represented Wonders Club Noida, S B Youth Cricket Club and SPJ Cargo Delhi.
Vansh Bedi’s journey with Chennai Super Kings in IPL
Bedi was bought by Chennai Super Kings for INR 55 lakh at the IPL 2025 mega auction. However, his debut for the franchise never came as he was ruled out of the season after suffering a ligament tear in his left ankle.
CSK subsequently signed Gujarat wicketkeeper-batter Urvil Patel as Bedi’s replacement for his base price of INR 30 lakh. Bedi was eventually unsold at the IPL 2026 auction, where his base price was listed at INR 30 lakh.
Even without playing a match for CSK, Bedi attracted attention during IPL 2025. He was spotted sleeping in the dugout during the franchise’s game against Delhi Capitals in Chennai on April 5, with the moment quickly spreading across social media.
Earlier in the season, Bedi had also grabbed attention after posing alongside Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni following the CSK-RCB match.
Vansh Bedi’s journey in Delhi Premier League (DPL)
Bedi has had opportunities to establish himself in the Delhi Premier League after a successful inaugural season. In DPL 2025, he represented Purani Dilli 6 and scored 187 runs in nine innings at an average of 20.78 and a strike rate of 187. His highest score was 48, and he hit 17 fours and 13 sixes.
In DPL 2026, Bedi turned out for Central Delhi Kings and improved his overall numbers. He scored 206 runs in 10 innings, including one half-century, while averaging 25.75. His strike rate remained at 206, with 17 fours and 16 sixes.
With his domestic career still in its early stages, Bedi remains a developing wicketkeeper-batter who has already experienced the spotlight through his IPL association and performances in the Delhi Premier League.
