Ravindra Jadeja has been excluded from the playing combination of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) for their match against the Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
At the toss, RR skipper Riyan Parag informs about the crucial change. In place of the veteran spin bowling all-rounder, the Royals team management picks Ravi Singh into their playing combination.
Why is Ravindra Jadeja not playing against the Delhi Capitals?
Parag informs that Ravindra Jadeja is not playing tonight’s game because of a workload management issue.
“We’ve had a few injuries here and there. I had to step out as well, so that hasn’t helped either. But as far as today is concerned, there’s just one change. Jaddu is out because of workload management and all of that, and Ravi Singh comes in for us,” the RR captain mentioned.
“Happy to lose the toss. We’ve had some ups and downs in the last few games. I think we haven’t defended well. But today gives us another opportunity to do that and do it clinically. So we have another extra seamer, and then we can hopefully defend it. Almost there (on figuring the best team),” he mentioned as well.
Who is Ravi Singh?
Ravi Singh, the replacement of Ravindra Jadeja, is mostly known as a wicketkeeper-batter, who is a newcomer in the Indian Premier League. He receives his debut cap at the crucial moment when the Rajasthan Royals are fighting for a spot in the play-offs.
Ravi’s stats in T20s look very promising. According to ESPNCricinfo, ahead of the DC vs RR IPL 2026 match, the keeper-batter has played 10 Twenty20 games to score 295 runs in total for a batting average of 42.14 and a strike rate of 174.55. In List A and First Class cricket, his batting averages read 66.14 and 77.33, respectively.
In domestic cricket, he plays for the Railways cricket team. In his previous domestic match, which was against the Services in the Ranji Trophy, he scored 55 and 45 runs in the first and second innings. It will be very interesting to see how he will perform tonight against the Delhi Capitals.
So far, Ravindra Jadeja has played 11 matches and 8 innings for the Royals this season. In this number of games, the all-rounder has scored 190 for a batting average of 47.50 and a strike rate of 133.80.
With the ball, the 37-year-old has taken 8 wickets in 9 innings, including a best bowling figure of 2/8, and an economy rate of 7.84. As Ravindra Jadeja played relentlessly, the team decided to offer him a break.
