Expired dairy products, poor food storage practices and hygiene lapses were among the violations detected by food safety teams of the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) during inspections at three establishments, including an Instamart warehouse in Hyderabad, on Friday (July 3, 2026).

Kwickbox Retail Private Limited’s hygiene score of 76

At Kwickbox Retail Private Limited, which operates an Instamart facility in Gajularamaram, inspections revealed expired cheese, yoghurt smoothies and paneer, all of which were discarded on the spot. The team also observed that vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items were stored together, while the cold storage room was maintained in an untidy and disorganised condition. Officials further noted that medical fitness certificates for food handlers were unavailable and that First In First Out (FIFO) and First Expiry First Out (FEFO) inventory management practices were not being followed properly. The facility also lacked a designated area for storing expired or damaged food products. The establishment received a hygiene score of 76%.

Old Trees Cafe’s hygiene score of 82%

At Old Trees Cafe in Kandlakoya, Medchal, inspectors found expired sweet sauce and yellow curry paste, which were discarded. The inspection also revealed the absence of medical fitness certificates for food handlers and a water analysis report for food preparation. Dustbins without proper lids were also observed. The establishment received a hygiene score of 82%.

Retail Private Limited’s hygiene score of 63%

At Baisakhi Family Dhaba in Kandlakoya, Medchal, officials found that the restaurant had not displayed its FSSAI and trade licences at the premises. The inspection uncovered several violations, including expired baby corn and black pepper masala, which were discarded. Medical fitness, pest control and water testing records were not maintained. The kitchen was open to the outside environment without protective mesh, increasing the risk of contamination. Officials observed open dustbins, unlabelled semi-prepared food items and the use of synthetic food colours in Chinese dishes, which were discarded immediately. Dead flies were found inside a refrigerator, while rusted iron knives used for food preparation were discarded and the management was instructed to replace them with food-grade stainless steel knives. The establishment received a hygiene score of 63%.
