IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu on Friday said Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a game-changer that must be embraced, mastered and guided through strengthened human skills.
Telangana has already started initiatives in this direction, from skilling and reskilling of the workforce, adoption of AI in public services and welfare programmes, besides creating infrastructure backbone for people to benefit from the emerging technology, he said.
Mr. Sridhar Babu, who addressed Swedish trade representatives and global technology stakeholders at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s government is prepared to meet the challenges posed by the rapid rise of AI.
Enhancing the skills of software professionals and future-ready talent is a priority. With AI set to significantly transform job roles, the government has started preparing the workforce for the transition, he said. The AI research centres, applications and service ecosystems will generate new employment opportunities.
Stating that skilling and reskilling have been the government’s guiding mantra for past two years, the Minister said adoption of AI in public services and welfare programmes will strengthen last-mile connectivity and curb misuse. He urged global technology firms to collaborate in building advanced applications and innovations for this purpose.
A large-scale initiative to provide internet connectivity to every village to ensure that the benefits of AI reach all citizens is underway. T-Fiber has been working for the past two years to connect every village to the digital world, Mr. Sridhar Babu said.
The Minister’s office said he described Telangana as a “haven for investment” and highlighted the State’s pro-innovation ecosystem, uninterrupted power supply and stable policy framework that consistently welcomes new ideas and enterprises.
Speaking at a session on ‘Agents of Change: AI for Government Services and Climate Resilience” at the Summit, he said Telangana aims to emerge as a model for digital governance by leveraging technologies such as AI, quantum computing and blockchain. Technology is being positioned as a key transformation tool under the State’s Telangana Rising 2047 vision and the government is integrating technology with citizen services to bridge the gap between the government and people and improve service delivery.
The government is exploring the use of Agentic AI to ensure emerging technologies benefit all sections of society, he said.
