Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education and IT Nara Lokesh on Saturday (July 11, 2026) reviewed the boat accident in Vietnam after reports indicated that tourists from Andhra Pradesh who were on a leisure trip may have been among those affected. He held discussions with senior State government officials and officials at Andhra Pradesh Bhavan in New Delhi to gather details about the incident.
Mr. Lokesh sought detailed information from officials after receiving inputs that people from the State could have been caught in the accident. Officials informed him that preliminary information suggested some tourists from Andhra Pradesh, who had travelled to Vietnam for a vacation, were believed to be involved in the mishap.
Officials also informed the Minister that they were in touch with the Indian Embassy in Vietnam to ascertain the condition of the affected tourists and coordinate the necessary response.
The Minister directed officials to work in close coordination with the Central government and ensure that all possible assistance is extended to the affected tourists and their families.
