The Hardik Pandya trade rumours have been doing the rounds for quite some time, with the Indian all-rounder being linked with several IPL franchises.
At different points, reports and speculation have connected Pandya with teams such as Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders. However, a fresh report regarding a possible return to Gujarat Titans has now brought a response from Pandya’s camp.
Pandya’s spokesperson has made it clear that the player has not held any direct trade conversation with another IPL franchise.
Hardik Pandya Trade Rumours: What Was Reported About Gujarat Titans?
The latest development came after a report in The Indian Express claimed that Pandya was interested in returning to Gujarat Titans, the franchise he captained during the 2022 and 2023 IPL seasons.
According to the report, Gujarat Titans were open to the possibility of bringing the all-rounder back. The franchise had reportedly also discussed the situation with their current captain, Shubman Gill.
However, the report claimed that the issue was Pandya’s reported desire to return as captain.
A source quoted in the report claimed that GT were comfortable with the idea of bringing Pandya back and that Gill was also open to the trade. However, the captaincy condition reportedly stopped the move from progressing.
Gujarat Titans did not publicly confirm the claims, with a franchise representative declining to comment on the matter.
Hardik Pandya’s Spokesperson Responds to Trade Reports
After the report created plenty of discussion, Pandya’s spokesperson gave a clear response regarding the suggestion that the all-rounder had personally negotiated with another IPL franchise.
The spokesperson said:
“Hardik Pandya had no direct conversation with any franchise whatsoever regarding transfer trade, or otherwise.”
The spokesperson further clarified that if there had been any approach for Pandya, it was directed towards Mumbai Indians rather than being handled through direct negotiations with the player.
This clarification is important because it creates a clear distinction between discussions that may be happening at the franchise level and any claim that Pandya himself has directly approached another team.
As things stand, Pandya’s camp has denied any direct trade conversation with another franchise.

What Does the Statement Mean for the Gujarat Titans Report?
There are two sides to the story at the moment.
The report, citing sources, says Gujarat Titans were open to Pandya’s return, but the reported captaincy condition became a problem. On the other hand, Pandya’s spokesperson has denied that the player held any direct conversation with Gujarat Titans or any other franchise.
Therefore, it would not be correct at this stage to say that Pandya has personally negotiated a deal with Gujarat Titans.
If another franchise has shown interest in signing him, the statement from his camp suggests that such an approach has been directed to Mumbai Indians.
That also makes sense from a trade point of view. Pandya remains a Mumbai Indians player, and any potential IPL trade would require the involvement of his current franchise.
Why Would Gujarat Titans Be Interested in Hardik Pandya?
From a pure cricketing point of view, interest in Pandya would hardly be surprising.
He remains one of the rare Indian players who can bat in the middle order and also provide a genuine pace-bowling option. His presence can give any IPL side greater flexibility while building its playing XI.
There is also a strong history between Pandya and Gujarat Titans.
GT appointed him captain ahead of their debut IPL season in 2022. Pandya led them to the title in their very first season and then took the side to another final in 2023, where they lost to Chennai Super Kings.
He later returned to Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2024 in a high-profile trade and replaced Rohit Sharma as captain.
Shubman Gill Factor Makes Captaincy Claim Interesting
The captaincy part of the report is where things become complicated.
Shubman Gill has been leading Gujarat Titans since Pandya’s departure. GT have invested in Gill as an important part of their long-term plans, so changing the leadership structure just to complete a trade would be a major decision.
That is why the reported captaincy demand, if it was indeed part of any franchise-level discussion, could become a difficult condition for Gujarat Titans.
However, this remains based on the reported version of events. Pandya’s spokesperson has specifically denied any direct conversation between the player and another franchise.
Hardik Pandya’s IPL Future Still Unclear
The clarification does not necessarily put an end to all the Hardik Pandya trade rumours.
What it does deny, at least from Pandya’s camp, is the suggestion that he has been directly negotiating with different IPL teams.
There is an important difference between the two.
Other franchises can be interested in Pandya, and discussions can potentially happen with Mumbai Indians. But according to his spokesperson, Pandya himself has not held direct transfer or trade talks with another franchise.
So, despite several teams being linked with the Indian all-rounder, there is still no confirmed new destination for him.
For now, Pandya remains a Mumbai Indians player. If any serious trade discussions are taking place, the statement from his camp suggests that Mumbai Indians would be the franchise handling them.
With IPL 2027 plans slowly taking shape, this may not be the last we hear about Pandya’s future. But until there is confirmation from the franchises involved, the reported destinations should be treated as Hardik Pandya trade rumours rather than completed deals.
