The State government has informed the Kerala High Court that ₹6 crore has been allotted for the construction of a parking lot that can accommodate 250 cars on Indian Railways-owned land next to the Mangalavanam Bird Sanctuary.
A sum of ₹3.35 crore would go towards the land lease fee, while the remaining amount would be used to construct the parking lot.
Kerala High Court Advocates’ Association president Peeyus A. Kottam assured the court that construction would be completed by November 1, in time for the ‘Kerala Piravi’ celebrations.
The court was considering a contempt of court petition filed by lawyer Suman Chakravarthy in connection with the alleged inaction by the authorities on a proposal to acquire additional land to improve parking facilities near the High Court.
