Aryansh Sharma produced a composed and match-winning knock to guide the United Arab Emirates to a five-wicket victory over Canada in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 on February 13 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Chasing 151, UAE reached 151/5 in 19.4 overs in a tense finish, with Aryansh remaining unbeaten on 74 off 53 balls. His innings included six fours and three sixes, struck at an impressive strike rate of 139.62.
The right-handed batter anchored the chase brilliantly, ensuring UAE stayed on track despite losing wickets at the other end. Aryansh brought up his half-century in style in the 14th over of the chase. Facing left-arm spinner Ansh Patel, who bowled a full delivery outside off, Aryansh stepped forward confidently and lofted the ball straight down the ground over long-on for a maximum. It was a clean strike and a statement of intent as he reached his milestone under pressure.
Earlier in the match, Canada posted a competitive total of 150/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Harsh Thaker was the standout performer with the bat, scoring 50 off 41 balls, including two fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 121.95. He stitched together a crucial 58-run partnership in 47 balls with Navneet Dhaliwal for the fourth wicket, stabilising the innings after early setbacks. However, Canada were restricted from pushing beyond 150 thanks to a brilliant bowling display from UAE’s Junaid Siddique, who claimed an outstanding 5/35 in his four overs.
In reply, UAE’s chase was built around Aryansh’s calm presence at the crease. He found an able partner in Sohaib Khan, who played an aggressive knock of 51 off just 29 balls. Sohaib smashed four boundaries and four sixes at a strike rate of 175.86, providing the momentum UAE needed in the middle overs. Although Canada’s captain Saad Bin Zafar bowled a tight spell and picked up 3/14, his efforts were not enough to prevent UAE from sealing the victory.
With this win, UAE moved to third place in Group D with one win and one loss, keeping their hopes of qualification alive. Canada, meanwhile, remains at the bottom of the table after consecutive defeats. UAE will next face Afghanistan on February 16, while Canada will look to bounce back when they take on New Zealand on February 17.
