Jos Buttler added another remarkable milestone to his illustrious white-ball career after becoming the highest run-scorer in men’s T20 cricket. The England wicketkeeper-batter achieved the feat during Manchester Super Giants‘ dominant nine-wicket victory over Welsh Fire in The Hundred Men’s 2026, surpassing former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard to move to the top of the all-time T20 run charts.
The landmark came during Buttler’s explosive unbeaten knock, as he continued his rich vein of form with another match-winning performance. Apart from helping his side end a three-match losing streak, the innings also cemented his place among the greatest T20 batters the game has ever seen.

The record-breaking moment arrived in spectacular fashion. Chasing 156, Buttler launched South Africa pacer Marco Jansen for three consecutive sixes, with the very first maximum taking him past Pollard’s career tally. The England star eventually remained unbeaten on 51 off just 20 deliveries, striking six sixes to guide Manchester Super Giants to victory with 31 balls remaining.
His latest innings took his overall T20 tally to 14,833 runs in 522 matches, overtaking Pollard’s 14,803 runs in 746 appearances. Former West Indies opener Chris Gayle now occupies third place on the all-time list with 14,562 runs. Speaking after the match, Buttler admitted the achievement meant a lot to him.
“It’s really cool, actually, to think you’ve got the most T20 runs out of anyone. Someone will surpass it one day, and his name’s probably Vaibhav Suryavanshi, but it’s a proud moment,” Buttler said.
He also revealed that he had hoped to break the record while Pollard was present during Manchester Super Giants’ previous fixture.
Buttler powers Manchester Super Giants to emphatic victory
Manchester Super Giants produced one of their most dominant batting performances of the season while chasing 156. Tim Seifert laid the perfect platform with an unbeaten 62 off 36 balls, while Paul Walter smashed a quickfire 37 from just 18 deliveries during an attacking opening stand.
Buttler then finished the chase in style, smashingJansen and Lockie Ferguson for a flurry of sixes as Manchester Super Giants raced to 161/1 in just 69 balls. The comprehensive victory ended the team’s three-match losing streak and significantly boosted their net run rate.
Earlier, Welsh Fire posted 155/4 after Matt Short anchored the innings with 71 off 47 balls, while Phil Salt contributed 48 during a 125-run opening partnership. However, the innings lost momentum after the opening stand was broken, with Gus Atkinson returning impressive figures of 2/12 to keep the target within reach.
For Buttler, though, the evening belonged to history. Having rediscovered his best form after a difficult start to the year, the England star now sits alone at the top of the all-time men’s T20 run-scoring charts, adding yet another remarkable achievement to an already glittering career.
