Prakash Raj confirmed on Friday that he has finished shooting his portion of Drishyam 3’s Hindi version, the third instalment of Ajay Devgn’s crime thriller franchise, which is being directed by Abhishek Pathak. Sharing a photograph of himself on set with a clapboard bearing the film’s title, he wrote: “Just wrapped up a fantastic shoot with a wonderful team… thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this film. I’m sure you’ll love it too… on to the next one.”
Prakash Raj joined the cast of Drishyam 3 in February 2026, when he announced the start of his shoot on social media. At the time, he was quick to address speculation around replacing Akshaye Khanna in the film, writing that he was “not replacing anyone.” His role in the film has not been disclosed publicly.
The Panorama Studios production, presented by Star Studio18, is directed by Abhishek Pathak and written by Pathak alongside Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh. It is produced by Alok Jain, Ajit Andhare, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak, and is scheduled to release theatrically in October.

A franchise that had a turbulent third chapter
The road to Drishyam 3 Hindi has been anything but smooth. Akshaye Khanna, who played IG Tarun Ahlawat in Drishyam 2, was expected to return for the third instalment. His exit became a public dispute when producer Kumar Mangat Pathak alleged that Khanna had signed the film, accepted an advance, and then pulled out ten days before his shoot was scheduled to begin.
The trigger, according to Pathak, was a disagreement over whether Khanna could wear a wig for his character — a request the director rejected on grounds of continuity with the previous film. While the actor initially agreed to drop the demand, he later revived it before ultimately choosing to exit entirely. Pathak claimed he sent a legal notice to Khanna, who has not issued a public response.
