The Department of Psychiatry, AIIMS Mangalagiri, organised a series of awareness, wellness, and community outreach activities aimed at promoting a drug-free society as part of ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Saptah’ observed from June 17 to 26.
According to a press release, the campaign began with an anti-drug pledge administered to students, faculty members, administrative personnel, nursing officers, and supporting staff.
The department organised a ‘Nukkad Natak’ (street play) followed by a public awareness rally, effectively conveying anti-drug messages through community engagement. A candlelight march was held across the institute hostels, symbolising solidarity in the fight against substance abuse.
The campaign also extended beyond the institute through community outreach programmes targeting youth and school students, focusing on prevention, awareness, and building resilience against substance use. Competitions, including a quiz, poster making, essay writing, and reel-making were organised on the theme ‘Break the Cycle and Stop Organised Crime’.
