Amid the IPL 2026 season, a shocking allegation has emerged. It is reported that a girlfriend of an IPL cricketer is suspected of leaking information related to the team outside, not once but twice.
Somehow, the franchise came to know about the incident, and, making no delay afterwards, the franchise officials contacted the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and discussed the incident.

Recently, it came to light that the board is considering prohibiting the girlfriend culture in the Indian Premier League. The matter is under discussion, and a final decision is yet to be taken.
Nowadays, there are multiple players who are spotted openly with their girlfriends. Many would have wondered why the BCCI suddenly wants to limit the girlfriend culture. The reason has now been revealed.
“A girlfriend of an IPL cricketer, who was allegedly caught twice passing on team information to outsiders, may have been one of the reasons behind the BCCI enforcing a fresh advisory for players and support staff, sources told,” CricBlogger informed in their latest report.
“It is also reliably learnt that after discovering the anomaly, the franchise owner immediately got in touch with the board, seeking the prompt release of a detailed list of dos and don’ts for the entire cricketing fraternity,” the report further claimed.
BCCI is all set to introduce strict rules in the near future
It is also claimed that the franchise urged the board to take some significant steps so that the vital information of the teams in the league can be protected and the integrity of the league could remain intact. It was earlier reported that a ban on the cricketers’ girlfriends is possible, but it is not sure that BCCI is going to do so. But it is sure that to protect the inside information and to maintain the highly professional structure untouched, the board is going to introduce strict rules.
“Sources said that the franchise has even demanded restrictions on girlfriends and any other loose cannons who could potentially jeopardise the integrity of the game. Whether the BCCI can blatantly ban girlfriends isn’t clear, but stricter rules to ensure that sensitive team information remains protected are almost certain to come into play,” the media report further claims.
“The Indian cricket board has taken the matter very seriously, and those associated with the teams should strictly adhere to all the protocols laid down for them,” another source said on the news website.

Star Indian cricketers like Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Ishan Kishan were spotted with their girlfriends in the ongoing IPL 2026 season. There are some other cricketers who are also in a relationship. Undoubtedly, the claims in the report are explosive, but no name has been revealed.
