Axis Bank sees strong credit demand across industrial sectors in Telangana

Telangana has emerged as an important market for Axis Bank on the back of a strong credit demand in the State across pharmaceuticals, Life Sciences, electronics manufacturing, engineering services, logistics and technology-enabled businesses, the private bank said on Thursday.

Hyderabad, Medchal, Sangareddy, Warangal and Khammam are key growth markets for commercial banking and ecosystem-led financing initiatives. Across sectors, the micro, small and medium enterprises are key drivers of growth and Axis Bank caters to more than 24,000 MSME accounts across the State. The bank’s advances to MSMEs stood at Rs.14,847 crore.

At the national level, its MSME portfolio totals Rs.2.93 lakh crore and contributes to nearly 24% of the total loan book, Axis Bank said this in a release in connection with MSME Day programmes here.

Group head – Mid-Corporate and Medium Enterprises Group Prashanth T.S. and group head – Commercial Banking Group Vijay Shetty, who spoke to media, said the bank is sharpening its focus on underserved and emerging customer segments, including micro enterprises and women-led MSMEs.

At a broad level, beyond credit, the enterprises are looking for faster decision-making, integrated banking solutions, and long-term growth partnerships. As part of its focus on growing business in Telangana, Axis Bank, which now has 199 branches in the State, plans to add 50 more this fiscal.
