BAN vs AUS [WATCH]: Taskin Ahmed gets rid off Adam Zampa with an absolute jaffa during 2nd ODI

Dhaka witnessed a cricketing masterclass on June 11, 2026, as Bangladesh pulled off a spectacular performance against Australia in the 2nd ODI of the bilateral series. Facing off at the iconic Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, the hosts delivered a clinical performance in a rain-truncated match, outclassing the visitors to script a memorable chapter in their cricket history.

Taskin Ahmed bowls a peach to dismiss Adam Zampa in 2nd ODI

The definitive moment of the match arrived during the 41st over of the Australian innings. Operating on a heavily responsive surface, speedster Taskin Ahmed unleashed a lethal spell that completely dismantled the tail end of the Australian batting lineup. Having just sent back a well-set Xavier Bartlett on the previous delivery, Taskin was on the verge of a historic hat-trick when Adam Zampa walked out to the crease.

What followed was an absolute jaffa that left the spectators and commentators in awe. Pushing the ball up to a full length at ball 40.3, Taskin extracted tremendous lateral movement, causing the ball to snake back sharply into the right-hander. Zampa attempted a standard front-foot drive, but the dramatic late inward shape proved too hot to handle.

The ball zipped cleanly through the massive gap between bat and pad, crashing violently into the middle stump. It was a classic fast-bowler’s dismissal that sent Zampa back for a golden duck ( off ball) and left the tourists reeling at 184/8. Taskin’s ecstatic celebrations mirrored the sheer quality of a delivery that perfectly encapsulated Bangladesh’s aggressive bowling intent throughout the day.

Bangladesh stun Australia to clinch historic series victory

The tactical foundation for Bangladesh’s triumph was laid early on by the bowler who ultimately claimed the Player of the Match honors: Mustafizur Rahman. Mustafizur’s precision cuts and variations choked the Australian top order right out of the gate. He registered spectacular figures of 3/27 in his 7 overs, picking up the crucial scalps of Cooper Connolly, Matt Renshaw, and Alex Carey.

Because of this early damage, Australia collapsed to an alarming 3-0 within the first two overs and later stalled at 81/6. A resilient 103-run partnership for the seventh wicket between Marnus Labuschagne (55* off 85 balls) and Xavier Bartlett (52 off 48 balls) dragged Australia to a respectable 187/8 in 42 overs before rain halted play.

Following the weather delay, the match conditions were adjusted via the DLS method, setting Bangladesh a revised target of 192 runs from 41 overs. Despite losing opener Tanzid Hasan for a duck on the second ball of the chase, the Tigers kept their composure. Steady, impactful contributions from Soumya Sarkar (42 off 47) and skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto (41 off 53) stabilized the innings.

When a couple of quick wickets threatened to derail the chase, Towhid Hridoy stepped up with an unbeaten, calm 40 runs from 55 deliveries. Anchoring the final stretch alongside Mehidy Hasan Miraz (22*), Hridoy ensured there were no further hiccups. Bangladesh cruised home at 195/5 in exactly 35 overs, winning by 5 wickets with 36 balls to spare and sealing a monumental, historic ODI series win over the mighty Australians.
