Bangladesh World Cup 2027 Schedule: Full Fixtures

Bangladesh will enter the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2027 with another opportunity to turn their potential into a memorable campaign on cricket’s biggest stage.

The Tigers have produced several outstanding players and memorable performances over the years. They have beaten some of the strongest teams in international cricket and have repeatedly shown that they possess the talent to compete at the highest level.

But the biggest question has remained the same: can Bangladesh consistently produce their best cricket when it matters most at the ODI World Cup?

Despite their potential, Bangladesh have struggled to make a deep run in the tournament. Their best ODI World Cup performance remains their quarter-final appearance in 2015.

The 2027 World Cup gives them another opportunity to change that story.

Bangladesh Have Potential But World Cup Success Has Been Limited

Bangladesh made their ODI World Cup debut in 1999 and immediately showed their ability to produce a major surprise by defeating Pakistan.

Over the years, the Tigers have developed into a much stronger international side.

However, consistent success at the World Cup has remained difficult to achieve.

Their finest campaign came in 2015 when Bangladesh reached the quarter-finals for the first time. They defeated England during the group stage to secure their place in the knockouts before their campaign ended against India.

Bangladesh have produced several other memorable World Cup victories, but they have not been able to return to the knockout stage since that 2015 campaign.

That record shows both sides of Bangladesh cricket — the ability to produce big performances and the difficulty of maintaining that level throughout a major tournament.

Bangladesh Endured a Difficult 2023 World Cup

The 2023 ODI World Cup in India was another disappointing campaign for Bangladesh.

They began the tournament positively by defeating Afghanistan by six wickets in Dharamsala.

But their momentum disappeared quickly.

Bangladesh suffered six consecutive defeats after that opening victory, which ended their hopes of reaching the semi-finals.

They finally returned to winning ways against Sri Lanka in Delhi, chasing 280 to register their first-ever victory over Sri Lanka in a Men’s ODI World Cup.

Bangladesh finished the tournament with only two victories from nine matches.

It was another campaign that demonstrated flashes of their ability without the consistency required to compete for the World Cup title.

Bangladesh Start World Cup 2027 Against England

Bangladesh have been placed in Group B alongside New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, England and Qualifier B.

Their World Cup campaign will begin against England on 8 October 2027 in Windhoek.

Bangladesh will then face New Zealand on 12 October in KuGompo City.

Their third match comes against Sri Lanka on 16 October in Durban.

Three days later, Bangladesh will face co-hosts South Africa on 19 October, also in Durban.

The Tigers will complete their Group Stage campaign against Qualifier B on 23 October in Tshwane.

Bangladesh Group Stage Schedule

Date Match Venue
8 October 2027 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 England vs Bangladesh 🇧🇩 Windhoek
12 October 2027 🇳🇿 New Zealand vs Bangladesh 🇧🇩 KuGompo City
16 October 2027 🇱🇰 Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh 🇧🇩 Durban
19 October 2027 🇿🇦 South Africa vs Bangladesh 🇧🇩 Durban
23 October 2027 🇧🇩 Bangladesh vs Qualifier B Tshwane

What Will Bangladesh’s Super 7 Schedule Be?

Bangladesh are not pre-seeded for the Super 7, so they do not have a fixed Super 7 schedule yet.

If Bangladesh qualify and displace one of the pre-seeded teams, they will inherit that team’s allocated Super 7 position and corresponding fixtures.

For example, the ICC has specifically explained that if Bangladesh qualify and Sri Lanka do not, Bangladesh would take Sri Lanka’s B3 position.

The top three teams from each group will qualify for the Super 7, along with the better fourth-placed team across the two groups.

For Bangladesh, the first challenge will therefore be navigating a difficult Group B containing New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka and England.

World Cup 2027 Semi-Finals and Final Dates

After the Super 7 stage, the top four teams in the standings will advance to the semi-finals.

Stage Date Venue
🏏 Semi-Final 1 17 November 2027 Cape Town
🏏 Semi-Final 2 18 November 2027 Tshwane
🏆 Final 21 November 2027 Johannesburg

If Bangladesh qualify for the Super 7, finish among the top four and then win their semi-final, they will reach their first-ever ODI World Cup Final, scheduled for 21 November in Johannesburg.

Bangladesh have shown many times that they possess enough talent to challenge strong international teams. What they have not yet managed is turning that potential into a sustained run at the ODI World Cup.

The 2027 edition provides another opportunity.

Their journey starts against England on 8 October in Windhoek, and a demanding Group B will immediately test whether the Tigers can finally deliver consistently on the biggest stage.
