Medical Education Minister Sharanprakash R. Patil on Thursday (April 30, 2026) ordered a safety audit of all government hospital buildings and compound walls coming under the Medical Education Department across the State. This follows the death of seven people after a compound wall collapse at the Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital, renamed as Sri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College and Research Institute.
The Minister issued the directions after visiting the site of the incident, where a section of the compound wall collapsed on Wednesday (April 30, 2026) evening amid heavy rain.
