The centenary celebrations of Basaveshwaraswamy Pattana Patthina Sahakara Sangha, an urban cooperative credit society in Shivamogga, began on Saturday.
Former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa inaugurated the event in Shivamogga, in the presence of Veerasomeshwara Shivacharya Swamy of Rambhapuri Mutt, Siddalinga Shivacharya Swamy of Ujjain Saddharma peetha and others at Kuvempu Rangamandira in Shivamogga.
Shivamogga MP Raghavendra, speaking on the occasion, praised the service of the cooperative society. It offered financial assistance to common people and industrialists over the century and contributed for the development of the city and district.
MLA S.N. Channabasappa, former MLC S. Rudregowda, MLC Dhananjay Sarji, society president Ballekre Santhosh and others were present.
