Congress snaps ties with DMK; extends support to Vijay’s TVK, seeking ‘share’ in T.N. government

The Congress on Wednesday (May 6, 2026) officially announced that its elected representatives in Tamil Nadu will support the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by C. Joseph Vijay, to form the next government in the State, and said that the alliance has been founded on mutual respect and appropriate “share” in the government.

The announcement by All India Congress Committee’s (AICC) Tamil Nadu in-charge Girish Chodankar further said that the alliance between the TVK and the Congress would continue for the upcoming local body elections, as well as Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha polls.
