Whether MS Dhoni will play is not clear yet. But, according to the latest reports, the legendary keeper-batter is expected to travel to Lucknow for CSK’s next match, which will be on Friday, May 15. If Dhoni travels with the team, then it will be a huge boost for the team.

Rohit Juglan, a RevSportz journalist, reported on May 12 that the 44-year-old could travel with the team for their upcoming away fixture. “MS Dhoni likely to travel to Lucknow tomorrow,” Rohit wrote this on his ‘X’ post.

Will MS Dhoni play vs LSG?

Dhoni’s availability remains an unsolved puzzle in the IPL 2026 season. Before the season opener, the franchise announced that the former skipper would miss multiple matches in the season due to an injury he received in training. Later, it was revealed that MSD has another injury, so he has been working on his fitness. It was previously informed that he was training hard to increase his running speed between the stumps. Later, Mike Hussey told the media that only Dhoni could tell when he would play.

Ahead of the LSG vs CSK match, some other sources also indicate that Dhoni is likely to travel to Lucknow. But will he play his first match in IPL 2026 there? Like before, there is no clear answer regarding this.

The middle order of CSK looked fragile

When LSG travelled to Chepauk for the previous round of the fixture, to face Chennai Super Kings on May 10, it turned out to be a highly competitive match. Batting first, the Lucknow Super Giants scored 203 runs in 20 overs, in exchange for 8 wickets. CSK claimed the match in the final over. Sanju Samson was dismissed after a brief innings. It was Urvil Patel who pushed the visiting side on the back foot. Captain Ruturah Gaikwad supported the explosive knock of Urvil Patel with calm and composure.

CSK won the match by 5 wickets and 4 balls to spare. CSK might have won the match, but the middle-order was not up to the mark.
