Fans go wild as India beat Pakistan to clinch Gold Medal at Asian Games 2026

India clinched the gold medal in the men’s cricket final at the Asian Games in Japan 2026, defeating arch-rivals Pakistan by 19 runs at Korogi Sports Park. After electing to bat first, India posted an imposing 211/6 in their allotted 20 overs before restricting Pakistan to 192/6.

Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma power India to 211

India got off to a flying start, with Vaibhav Suryavanshi scoring 15 off nine balls, including two sixes. Abhishek Sharma then took charge of the innings, smashing 61 off just 28 deliveries. His explosive knock contained three fours and seven sixes, putting Pakistan’s bowlers under immense pressure.

After Sanju Samson was dismissed for two, Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan contributed 21 and 20 respectively. The finishing phase belonged to Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube. Tilak produced a superb 51 off 22 balls, hitting three fours and four sixes, while Dube struck 27 off 15 deliveries with two fours and two sixes. India eventually reached 211/6 from their 20 overs.

Pakistan’s bowling effort saw Ahmed Daniyal and Arafat Minhas claim two wickets apiece. Saim Ayub, who bowled four overs, picked up one wicket for 47 runs, while Abrar Ahmed also took one wicket.

Hasan Nawaz keeps Pakistan in the hunt before India bounced back

Pakistan needed 212 to win the gold medal and started cautiously. Sahibzada Farhan made 10 off 11 before Maaz Sadaqat scored 23 from 18 deliveries. Usman Khan struggled to find momentum, managing just three runs from six balls.
Hasan Nawaz then produced a remarkable counterattack. The Pakistan batter smashed 96 off 51 balls, hitting five fours and seven sixes to keep his side firmly in contention. Ayub added 29 off 22, but Pakistan continued to lose wickets at crucial moments.

India’s bowling attack eventually managed to contain the chase. Axar Patel and Washington Sundar picked up two wickets each, while Dube also claimed two wickets. Jasprit Bumrah completed his four overs for 33 runs without a wicket, while Ravi Bishnoi conceded 44 runs from three overs.

Despite Nawaz’s spectacular innings and late contributions from Abdul Samad and Saad Masood, Pakistan finished on 192/6 after 20 overs, falling 19 runs short of India’s total. The victory saw India secure the gold medal in the men’s cricket competition at the Asian Games in Japan 2026. Abhishek’s explosive 61 and Tilak’s rapid half-century laid the foundation for India’s 211, while the bowling attack successfully defended the total against a determined Pakistan chase.
