The Delhi Capitals have not been winning games regularly in this season of the IPL; however, their performance in most games has impressed their fans until they faced the Royal Challengers at their own home ground.
The last time they clashed against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru was at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, and the Capitals ended the winning streak of the defending champions at their home ground in this edition of the competition. The likes of KL Rahul, Tristan Stubbs, and David Miller had played a fine hand with the bat.
The Delhi Capitals have had some serious struggles with the bat against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru as they collapsed for less than a hundred runs at their own home ground at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Delhi Capitals struggle with lowest-ever score in the powerplay
This is the same Delhi Capitals who put on the highest total of this edition of the competition in the last game at this same venue of the Arun Jaitley Stadium. However, this is not the same pitch, and this is not the same bowling attack they were batting against.
The Capitals missed out on even reaching the double digits within the power play overs before they lost six wickets within the first five overs of the game. With batters struggling, the Capitals had to bring in their impact player, Abhishek Porel.
Despite some shots from Abhishek and David Miller after the powerplay and later joined by Kyle Jamieson, the Delhi Capitals could not hold on to play their quota of 20 overs. They were bowled out for just 75 runs on the board.
DC fans thank Abhishek Porel after face saving innings against RCB
The impact player Abhishek Porel looked to have gotten some reliance on a pitch that was so challenging for the rest of the DC batters; however, he never got the other players in that lineup going, which led to a tragic collapse for the Capitals.
However, it was due to Porel’s valuable 30 runs that they went past the lowest-ever IPL total of 49 runs which is a former unwanted IPL record held by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru themselves.
Porel has been largely praised for his knock, as he was the last man to be dismissed.
“No shame Team DC.” Fans troll Delhi Capitals for humiliating show in IPL 2026 clash against RCB
Everyone thought that RCB’s 49 record would be broken ….but Sunriser’s record is broken today .
They scored 14 runs in the powerplay in 2022 which was the lowest , now DC stands at 13 runs in PP.

DC scored 45 btw without Impact player 👍

From 9 for 6 to finally crossing 49 in DCvsRCB when the bar drops that low, just hanging in there starts to feel like a win in itself.

The franchise should be sacked along with the owners. Delhi Capitals need a completely fresh start with new ownership and a new team management.
