Five tourists from Telangana were rescued from drowning by the Coastal Security Police (Marine) in coordination with community guards, after they were swept into the sea by strong waves at RK Beach in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday (July 15, 2026).
According to Coastal Security Police Visakhapatnam Inspector S. Ramesh, the incident occurred at around 10.30 a.m., when the tourists, all from Mushampalli in Nalgonda district of Telangana, went into the sea for a bath. They struggled to return to shore after being suddenly pulled deeper into the water by powerful shore waves.
Alert marine police personnel on duty at the beach noticed the situation and immediately launched a rescue operation. They swiftly entered the water and safely brought all five tourists back to shore.
The rescued tourists were administered first aid on the spot. All five are reported to be safe and in good health.
