Governor emphasises need for coordination of tradition and technology

Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has emphasised the need for coordinating heritage with modern technology so as to introduce and popularise Ayurveda at the global level.

Inaugurating the convocation of Bhagavan Mahaveer Jain Ayurvedic Medical College in Gajendragad of Gadag district on Thursday, the Governor said that Ayurveda was not just a medical system to cure diseases but a scientific handbook for building a healthy lifestyle.

Mr. Gehlot said that Karnataka had a special place in Ayurveda and naturopathy and medical education institutions and universities in the state were building a better future for the youths.

Elaborating on the significance of Ayurveda, the Governor called on the budding Ayurveda practitioners to imbibe in their lives the ideals of Bhagavan Mahaveer and serve the society with commitment.

Terming Ayurveda as a result of generations of studies, research and experience, the Governor said that the basic objective of Ayurveda was to protect the health of a healthy man and to curing the patient’s diseases.

Referring to the ill effects of the stressful modern lifestyle, the Governor said that Ayurveda had an effective cure for the diseases borne out of modern lifestyle. Through Yoga and Ayurveda India had given an invaluable contribution to the world and every Indian should be proud of the ancient wisdom and heritage.

Chairman of the College Ashokkumar Bagmar presided over the convocation and spoke.  Secretary Ajitkumar Bagmar briefed about the institution and said that along with education all efforts were made to ensure that the students imbibed values. Principal Dr. Narayanrao made introductory remarks. Directors Sadeep Jinavasara, Tarabai Bagmar, Vardhaman Bagmar, Deputy Commissioner C.N. Sridhar, SP Rohan Jagadish and others were present.
