Toluca Lake remains a Hollywood favourite, offering residential charm, leafy surroundings and convenient access to major studios.

A Hollywood home can have a life of its own, changing hands as its owners move through different chapters of their careers. In Toluca Lake, a charming Los Angeles property once owned by Kirsten Dunst has found a new custodian in fellow actress Annie Potts. With its leafy outdoor spaces, inviting interiors and private waterfront setting, the five-bedroom home sold for $4.55 million, keeping the property firmly within Hollywood circles, states an online report by The Los Angeles Times.

A swift sale in Toluca Lake

As per The Los Angeles Times report, Dunst purchased the 4,333-square-foot residence in 2001 for $2.6 million. Eighteen years later, the property attracted a buyer just nine days after hitting the market in June, initially listed at $4.7 million. Potts, best known for her roles in the original Ghostbusters films, ultimately secured the home for $4.55 million. The sale highlights the enduring appeal of Toluca Lake, a neighbourhood popular with entertainment-industry figures for its residential charm and proximity to Hollywood and major studio facilities. Yet it is the property’s combination of indoor comfort and carefully designed outdoor spaces that gives it much of its character, states another report by the Observer.

Light-filled interiors with artistic touches

As per the LA Times report, inside, the home favours a bright, understated palette. White walls, light hardwood flooring and generous windows create an airy backdrop, while the living room’s fireplace brings warmth to the main gathering space. The dining area is crowned by a chandelier, and the kitchen features marble surfaces and a central island designed for both cooking and entertaining.Across its 4,333 square feet, the house accommodates five bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms, balancing generous family spaces with quieter corners that make the most of its setting, adds the report.

A garden that leads to the water

A white picket fence frames the front lawn, where a fountain provides a welcoming focal point. At the rear, the garden unfolds across a series of tiered patios that lead towards a private dock on the lake. The waterfront setting gives the property a distinctly relaxed atmosphere, offering a retreat from the pace of Los Angeles, states the online report. The outdoor entertaining areas are equally considered. French doors connect the family room to a brick patio featuring a custom-built gazebo, an outdoor kitchen and a dining area. A fire pit provides a natural gathering spot, while steps descend to another patio with a swimming pool and spa. Overlooking the pool is a crescent-moon art installation, adding an unexpected sculptural detail to the landscape, explains The LA Times report.

Two actresses, two Hollywood chapters

According to The Los Angeles Times report, Dunst built an impressive career from childhood, earning a Golden Globe nomination at just 12 for Interview with the Vampire. Her later credits include The Virgin Suicides, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Melancholia and Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy.Potts, meanwhile, earned a Golden Globe nomination for Corvette Summer in 1978 and went on to star in Pretty in Pink, Jumpin’ Jack Flash and Designing Women, also claims the report. The purchase follows several property moves for Potts, who sold a colourful Toluca Lake hacienda for $3.875 million three years ago and a Midcentury Modern-style home in Sherman Oaks for $1.84 million earlier this year, adds the online report. Now, the lakefront residence begins another chapter, with its blend of classic interiors, resort-style outdoor living and waterside tranquillity continuing to draw interest beyond its former owner’s Hollywood legacy.Images Courtesy: Wikipedia, istock, and Instagram
