KL Rahul’s wicketkeeping prowess keeps getting better and better with each passing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), and the Delhi Capitals (DC) reaped its rewards in their game against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday, May 5.
The DC and India wicketkeeper stumped CSK batter Urvil Patel off the bowling of captain Axar Patel in the seventh over of the second innings. It was a very important wicket for the Capitals to take, with Urvil looking dangerous, having hit the returning Lungi Ngidi for two consecutive sixes in the previous over.
Axar bowled a quicker delivery, which Urvil tried to drive on the up, but completely missed the ball. In the process, Rahul was extremely quick to dislodge the stumps. The 34-year-old was rapid behind the wickets, performing the stumping in just 0.24 seconds to do to CSK what their former captain MS Dhoni has been doing to all the other teams in the IPL over the years.
It is worth mentioning that since signing for DC last year, this was Rahul’s first stumping for his new side. Prior to today, the top-order batter had performed seven stumping in his IPL career.
