The district-level inauguration of the Onam Khadi fair was held at Khadi Gramodyog Bhavan, Manjeri, on Monday (July 27). M. Rahmathulla, MLA, inaugurated the fair.
Gandhi Sahitya Vedi district president T. Abbas presided over the function. Mr. Rahmathulla handed over the first Khadi product to Manjeri municipal councillor Shamlik Kurikkal, marking the launch of the fair.
Sarvodaya Sangham president K.K. Muraleedharan, treasurer M. Prakashan, Manjeri Press Forum secretary K.M.A. Shukoor, Gandhi Darshan representative Mukundan Meleth, and social worker Saleena Pulpatta spoke.
Sarvodaya Sangham secretary Shyam Prasad M.K. welcomed the gathering. Khadi Bhavan manager Praveen T. proposed a vote of thanks.
The fair will offer a 30% government rebate on Khadi products until August 25. Interest-free credit facilities are available for employees of government, semi-government, banking and public sector institutions.
