Sony has officially set the date for the next flagship Xperia launch – May 13 (Wednesday). The company just shared a new teaser video on its YouTube channel, which doesn’t reveal much, but it does hint at a new layout for the triple camera.
Even better, the company also posted the live stream link where everyone will be able to watch the Sony Xperia 1 VIII unveiling. This link will become active in less than two days – the event is scheduled for 2am UTC on May 13.
Delving into unofficial info, CAD-based renders show a brand new look for the back of the upcoming Mark 8 model with a square camera island in the top left corner that holds three lenses. The lenses (16mm, 24mm and 70mm, allegedly) are arranged in a triangle instead of a single column like on all previous generations. The front will be, as usual, a flat 6.5” OLED panel with no notches or punch holes. And yes, it will have a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The phone will be pricey, though that leaked price also included a pair of Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones. We’ll find out more on Wednesday.
