The police on Friday (July 17, 2026) arrested a man for allegedly inciting caste and religious hatred through a post on social media.

According to Nandikotkur Rural police inspector Subrahmanyam, S. Venkatesh from Sangayyapeta in Nandikotkur town lodged a complaint against an individual for allegedly posting objectionable content on Facebook that hurt the religious sentiments of a particular community and promoted religious hatred.

Police found that the account belonged to 67-year-old S. Mohammad Abdul Salam, also known as Sheik Abdul Salam or Sheik Salam, who runs a ration shop at Jupadu Bungalow.

During the investigation, the accused voluntarily surrendered at the Nandikotkur Circle Office, admitted to posting the content, and sought an apology, which he posted on the same Facebook account. He was taken into custody and produced before the court, which remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody.
