The Kote police in Shivamogga have cracked the theft case reported in Vidya Nagara in the city and recovered valuables worth over ₹1.02 crore from the accused.
The police identified the accused as Mohammed Rafeeq, a native of Hagaribommanahalli in Vijayanagara district. He allegedly entered the house of a couple, both Panchayat Development Officers, during the day on August 28 and fled with valuables.
The police registered a case and, working on the clues available, traced him to Devanahalli near Bengaluru. They recovered 558 grams of gold jewellery and ₹20 lakh in cash from him.
Superintendent of Police B. Nikhil appreciated the efforts of Harish K. Patel, Police Inspector of Kote police station, and his team for cracking the case and recovering the valuables.
