The story is fairly nice. Brian Lynch and Pierre Coffin’s screenplay is interesting, especially for the kids. The incomprehensible language of the minions is particularly entertaining. The screenplay has several cute and comic moments, which make the minions endearing and the drama entertaining. However, the drama seems too implausible at places and loses steam after a while.On the whole, Minions & Monsters is a fair entertainer for kids mainly, but it will do very ordinary business in Hindi while working better in the original (English) language.

Things perk up when the monsters make their entry, except they are also blobs but bigger, and the biggest one is a yellow coloured one called Irene, which has a millions eyes, and oozes about, gobbling everything in sight.That’s when all the frantic rushing around finds a purpose, and the planet is saved, yet again, by the minions who best the monsters. The pace picks up, so does the fun. Finally.

Minions & Monsters is nostalgic without becoming lazy and visually inventive without overwhelming its story. Whether you grew up with these lovable yellow troublemakers or are meeting them for the first time, this delightful and funny family entertainer deserves a trip to the big screen.

All said and done though, Minions & Monsters is entertaining enough on its own terms, but the yellow horde still does little to lift a Despicable Me franchise that has been running on diminishing returns ever since the first film.PS: If the Minions exist solely to serve the most evil beings imaginable, why do they spend the climax fighting monsters who possess exactly the kind of evil intentions they have always been searching for? Banana for your thoughts, Mr Minion?

On the whole, MINIONS & MONSTERS is a fun, visually vibrant and fairly entertaining ride that may have a few uneven portions but has enough madness and charm to appeal to its target audience, especially kids and families.
