Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has come under the spotlight after reports indicated that he is not cooperating with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency. The probe agency has claimed that Rizwan is actively avoiding the inquiry and has not provided a positive response to their requests. The ongoing probe centers around allegations related to online betting and gambling following Pakistan’s Test tour of England.

No Evidence Found in the NCCIA Investigation So Far

Despite the seriousness of the allegations, officials have made it clear that neither Mohammad Rizwan nor opening batter Imam-ul-Haq has been proven guilty. To date, investigators have found no incriminating evidence against either cricketer. Legally, both players remain free of any confirmed wrongdoing.

However, the inquiry cannot be officially completed until the forensic examination of their mobile phones is finished. If the digital analysis reveals nothing irregular, both players will receive a complete clean chit from the authorities.

Delay in the NCCIA Investigation Over Phone Forensics

The main delay currently stems from the technical process required to access Rizwan’s mobile device. The agency wants to conduct the forensic analysis in Rizwan’s presence so security locks can be removed without causing any data loss.

While Imam-ul-Haq cooperated with the agency and allowed forensic experts to begin examining his phone in his presence, Rizwan has reportedly stayed away. Investigators have reached out to Rizwan multiple times, offering to meet him or even send a specialized team to his residence. In response, Rizwan has either missed communications or directed investigators to contact his legal counsel.

Court Directives and the Deadlock Over Fast Resolution

The situation creates an awkward contradiction for the senior cricketer. Rizwan challenged the agency’s notices in the Lahore High Court, where he asked for a swift conclusion to the probe. The court dismissed his plea and instructed the agency not to harass him, but strictly directed Rizwan to join the proceedings and cooperate fully.

Both the court and Rizwan have pushed for the inquiry to end quickly. Yet officials rightly point out that a probe cannot conclude without the necessary examination of key digital evidence. If Rizwan continues to withhold his direct cooperation, the agency plans to issue another formal notice requiring his mandatory appearance.

Why Clear Cooperation Matters for Rizwan

Rizwan has built a strong reputation in world cricket, and the prolonged inquiry has only fueled rumors and public speculation. Allowing these unverified allegations to linger does unnecessary damage to his standing.

Because authorities have already affirmed that no wrongdoing has been established, submitting his phone for the final forensic check is the most direct step forward. If there is nothing improper on the device, complete cooperation will finally settle the matter and bring an end to the controversy.
