Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara on Thursday (August 27, 2026) said eight people from Bengaluru were stranded in Nepal following the flash floods, and steps are being taken to rescue them.
“We have no information about any deaths. A helpline has already been opened. People can contact 1070 or 080-22253707, and necessary action will be taken. If any of your family members or acquaintances are unreachable, please inform us immediately,” the Deputy Chief Minister said during a press conference here.
He said senior officials will be sent to Kathmandu, and further action will be taken based on the information received.

“We have shared all the information officially available so far. The Resident Commissioner in Delhi has also been contacted and instructed to take immediate action,” he said.
Home Minister Priyank Kharge has separately urged Indian citizens affected by the floods to make immediate use of the emergency helplines established for assistance and information.
The sudden flooding has affected normal life inseveral parts of Nepal, with Indian citizens also among those facing difficulties. Mr. Kharge appealed to Indians in Nepal, as well as their relatives in India, to contact the helplines without delay if they need assistance, information or help in establishing communication with family members.
The emergency helpline numbers are +977 985 131 6807, +977 970 910 7500 and +977 981 032 6117. All three numbers are also accessible through WhatsApp, according to a release by Home Minister.
CM speaks to survivor
Meanwhile, Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar spoke to a survivor of the Nepal floods from Karnataka over a video call and assured him of the State government’s support and safety.
Mr. Shivakumar, who is currently in New Delhi, spoke to Mallinath and enquired about his condition following the tragedy. A video shared by the Chief Minister in social media showed him speaking with Mallinath and checking on his well-being.
During the conversation, Mr. Mallinath recalled that the flash floods had struck the same location where he had been a mere 10 minutes earlier. Mr. Shivakumar advised him to stay put for some more time and not be in a rush to leave, as he was in a safe area.
The Chief Minister also informed Mr. Mallinath that Karnataka officials were still unable to establish contact with some other tourists from the State who were in Nepal.
The Karnataka government, meanwhile, has stepped up efforts to identify residents of the State who may have been stranded in Nepal and the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) amid flash floods and disruptions reported along the Nepal-Tibet border and surrounding areas.
The Revenue Department, through the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), has appealed to stranded individuals, their family members and tour operators to provide details through a Google Form at the earliest. The information will help the State government coordinate with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Embassy of India in Nepal and the Embassy of India in Beijing for rescue, evacuation and other necessary assistance, according to a release by the revenue department.
