NZ vs IND [WATCH]: Prince Yadav cleans up Finn Allen with a superb delivery in 2nd T20I

India made an impressive start to the second T20I against New Zealand at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on October 24. Playing their landmark 300th T20I, the visitors won the toss and elected to bowl first, hoping to exploit the conditions early in the innings.

The decision paid off as India’s pace attack dismantled the New Zealand top order during the Powerplay. Debutant Prince Yadav added to the hosts’ troubles by producing a superb delivery to bowl dangerous opener Finn Allen, giving India another important breakthrough.

Prince Yadav bowls Finn Allen with a superb delivery

The dismissal came in the sixth over of New Zealand’s innings when Prince bowled a full delivery aimed at the stumps. Allen attempted to shuffle across and play a paddle sweep but failed to make contact with the ball. The delivery went straight through and crashed into the leg stump, sending the zing bail flying and leaving Allen stunned.

Prince was visibly delighted with the breakthrough, having dismissed one of New Zealand’s most dangerous batters in his first over of the tour. Allen departed for 16 off 14 deliveries, including a six. The wicket further strengthened India’s grip on the innings, with the debutant making an immediate impact after being introduced into the attack.

Glenn Phillips and Bevon Jacobs rescue New Zealand after early collapse

Glenn Phillips and Bevon Jacobs produced a superb recovery, as Phillips scored 70 off 43 deliveries, including four fours and four sixes, while Jacobs contributed 58 off 46 balls, hitting five fours and a six. Their century partnership helped New Zealand recover from the early setbacks and put pressure back on India’s bowling unit.

India eventually broke the stand in the 18th over when Arshdeep dismissed Phillips, reaching a landmark by becoming the Indian bowler with the most T20I wickets in a calendar year. Nitish Kumar Reddy then removed Jacobs in the following over. Michael Bracewell provided a late boost with an unbeaten 10 off just two deliveries, including a four and a six. New Zealand finished their 20 overs at 180/5, setting India a target of 181 runs at a required run rate of 9.05.
