Former India batter Ambati Rayudu opined that Lucknow Super Giants’ pace sensation Prince Yadav might soon make his debut for the country.
Yadav has been one of the breakout talents of IPL 2026 after going through a rough IPL 2025. Despite LSG struggling at the bottom of the points table, he has been enjoying great personal success.
Prince Yadav’s 3/33 snaps Lucknow’s losing streak
Prince Yadav’s fame skyrocketed after he dismissed former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli for a duck in the two teams’ clash on May 7 in Lucknow.
Yadav went on to claim the wickets of Devdutt Padikkal and Jitesh Sharma too as LSG broke a six-match losing streak and beat RCB by 9 runs. The win couldn’t help LSG go up from No. 10 in the points table, though.
In the first innings, Mitchell Marsh’s century had guided LSG to 209 in a match curtailed to 19 overs by rain. RCB’s DLS target was set to 213.
RCB lost both their openers in the second over, and Prince Yadav returned in the eleventh to cause a middle-order collapse. RCB’s lower middle order got close, but couldn’t cross the finish line. Yadav finished with 3/33 in four overs.
“That guy is a special talent” – Ambati Rayudu on Prince Yadav
Speaking on ESPNCricinfo, Rayudu said that Yadav’s talent was special. He also said that Prince’s consistent lines were the reason for his success.
“I think he’s going to make his debut soon for India. That guy is a special talent. We have seen it throughout the IPL, and also the way he runs in his run-up itself tells that he’s in there with a fight,” he said.
“He bowls a heavy ball, and most of his deliveries are hitting the stumps if you look at it. That’s a speciality, and the ball [to Kohli] was very, very special. That’s a beautiful ball to bowl, with it swinging right in front of the bat. I don’t think any batsman in the world can play them.”
“He is an all-format bowler” – Rayudu
Rayudu went on to praise Yadav’s ability to stick to a consistent line and length. The former CSK star said that attributes like these would easily turn Prince into a three-format bowler.
“Seriously, to watch this guy bowl is unbelievable. I mean it’ll be a total pleasure to stand in the first or second slip to it. I think he’s an all-format bowler, the way he’s looking.
“His fitness and also because he’s so fit he’s so agile and his action is so clean, he has the consistency which most of the bowlers don’t have. Lot of bowlers bowl one or two good balls in an over this guy bowls about four to five. So that’s his strength I feel,” Rayudu analysed.

Prince Yadav’s form in IPL 2026
After taking 3 wickets in 6 matches at a bowling average of 75 in IPL 2025, Prince Yadav has put up a better showing by leaps and bounds in IPL 2026.
With 16 wickets in 10 matches, he is third on the IPL 2026 Purple Cap table. With an excellent bowling average of 18.68 and a stable economy rate of 8, Yadav has impressed everyone with his bowling.
